Since you are using all new filter media, how are you able to add fish with in a week? I mean cycling a tank usually takes 4 to 6 weeks

they got it down to a science for all the stuff they get people to buy to set up an aquarium i use a swampkooler pump for one of my outboard filters pumps way more then you would think.. n my fish like dog food... i think i got 25 bucks into 4 aquariums n they seem to keep life going ok... fish are so kool...

Pack it with rainbows like every other tank. Vals - check, Standard Anubias Java fern and other entry level plants - check, no use of mosses or foreground plants-check, no inverts check. I believe we've seen this tank before.

I love the sink! my aquarium wall backs up to a bathroom and I would love to build a custom rack with a water changing system. then again, I have 2 sinks in my bathroom. one is dedicated to my fish care. :)

Any shrimp should work. I prefer cherry shrimp because of their color, but they are smaller than other shrimp. I also think they're hardier though.

add floating plants - lots of them. full sun is hard core....water flow helps too :)

Elizabeth is right. You can also put some barley straw in the filter or where there's flow, helps break down algae from what I understand.

If it's outside in direct sunlight, algae is pretty much always going to be there. Out compete algae with more plants and wipe the glass clean every water change. Bristlenose plecs and shrimp can help. Normally I just clean the front of the tank, my shrimp and fry enjoy eating the rest.
