i think it's more for speed than maneuverability but yeah, they are in their own seperate race class

That's a bit relative when you see how easy they can get stuck ... but you have a point there. :)

The longer designs are much faster than most modern creekboats, that's why these types of boats are used in races.

That's weird. You can see how hard it is to maneuver through that narrow creek with these boats. Modern creekers are much shorter while maintaining a huge volume.
