Don't understand the discussion here. First two films are more like actionmovies, absolutely impressive for sure, but the french film clearly deserves 1st place on a cinematic and overall "making you longing for kayaking"-approach. The end is also the funniest. It's not all about making the craziest stunts. Think about it.

Dustin, advice from me is to contact your local canoe club and take a couple of lessons followed by always paddling with certified lifesavers. Until your the level and confidence you need to be don't do anything alone in a whitewater kayak. Always, always wear a pdf and helmet. Top of my helmet has some nice scratches on it just from basic rivers.. good luck! Safety first!

Dustin 3423 there are to different things the suit they where is called a dry suit where u can where ur clothes underneath and the thing they pull over is a deck which stops water from filling up ur boat. The makes and makes of the kayaks in the vid are like liquidlogic and pyrahna I'm not sure what the model for the liquidlogic one is called but the pyrahna is called a pyrahna burn

magic skills they throw there paddles because when they go off drops which are massive 50 to 100 foot waterfalls the paddle is a higher danger as it could swing back and smack them in the face from the force you hit the water at which could prevent in injuries. If you watch when they go off the edge of the drops when they get close to hitting the water they hold on to the deck to make sure that when they hit the water the pressure doesn't rip the deck off from the amount of force ur landing in the water

They throw the paddle as it can be dangerous on landing, it can smack you in the face or cause shoulder or wrist injuries etc. And they adopt that diving position for drops above a certain height, bellow that height they use a technique called a boof, which basically means landing flat but this causes obvious shock to the body. When they lean forward they are going into the water bow first as it reduces shock loading on the spine and the rest of the body.

because at the height of those drops, holding onto the paddle is pointless, you WILL lose it or get a wrist injury trying to hold on to it. we bend forward like that because it prevents injury. landing flat on the bottom of your kayak sitting up straight can and has seriously injured and paralyzed people. See 3:34, how much of a shock on his body you can see when he lands flat?

There is a big discussion going on, about what kind of video "Style" is the Best. Of Course these "compilation" Videos like the first one are awesome to watch, but neither they represent the "Kaykaing Lifestyle", witch is essentially the reason, why most people doing Kayaking are kind of addicted to it, nor the difficulties you encounter during a Kayaking-Holiday.
Both this things are told only by the first place video. While the first tow are made to appeal to the usual guy on YouTube watching "People are Awesome" Videos, the first place Video is made to appeal to Kayakers, and that makes it more awesome, at least for me.
