5 Fishing Kayaks Under $500 : Part 1 of 2

So one of the most frequently asked question on our channel is which kayak I would recommend for someone looking to spend $500 or less. I honestly don't sell many kayaks under $500 that are suitable for an average sided adult to fish from. Our Fishing Yaks all start at around $600 and go up from there. We focus our attention on being someones second kayak shop. We stock boats that are more feature rich, more specific for paddlers needs, and in general much better quality. With that said there are a lot of folks who just want to get off the bank and onto the water, so I wanted to take some time to educate myself on whats available in our local market, and then get them on the water to give you guys my honest feedback. So this is part 1 of 2 and in a few weeks I will have had the time to get them all on the water and test each one. At that point I'll share my honest review for each of them and score them on a 1-10 scale in these different areas. Stability: Speed: Weight: Durability: Quality: Value: Fishability: So be sure to subscribe and follow along as we put these basic kayaks through their paces. I'm sure this video, and your comments will inspire a whole new series of fun video projects! cheap N good Quality
Dick's had the F&S Eagle Run on sale yesterday for $399 (free store pickup); I was half tempted to buy one just to loan to friends to come try kayaking with us. Of course when I checked back today it was back up to $550. Agree with your sentiments about the Pelican's molding - even their "expensive" ones feel lacking in density/thickness, and lots of reviews about cracking hulls.

Thx for the vid.
Academy is the closest sporting store, also 45-50 miles, and they carry Perceptions, Pelicans, and a couple of other makes. Bought my 11 yr old grandson's Pelican Apex10 Angler there, and it's fine for him now, and we'll upgrade to something better probably next year if he sticks with the interest.
Wish we had a dedicated kayaking store such as yours locally (northwestern Ky). I'm a Lure 11.5 owner, and ord'd it from Hook1 in Tenn.
Looking fwd to the upcoming reviews.
Thanks!
I'm 380 and I bought the Sea Ghost 130. I bought it because they claim 550lb and based on dimensions it should have a huge amount of bouyancy. There is still plenty of freeboard when I sit in it. The seat is wide and comfortable as well. So far I've only taken it on a small river and I love it. In his last video he stated that 550lb was "maybe before it sinks". I think 550 is pretty realistic.
