This encourages me. I'm bigger, so I'll probably opt for an expedition model to pack my 260# around. How removable is the keel tube? I'd be buying one to pack around in my small RV.

I have now bought an Advanced Elements Sport Kayak and tried it out on the water a few days ago, not having kayaked before. I used your techniques for getting in and out of the kayak and had no difficulty at all. I spent a happy couple of hours out on a local lake. I'm hooked on kayaking already and can't wait to get out on the water again. The AE Sport is a an amazing design - it's easy to inflate, sturdy, stable and looks good! I haven't purchased the backbone, but the kayak seems to track well enough without. However, I will be adding foam to the seat to raise me up a bit. Thanks again for your excellent video - Advanced Elements should be thanking you as well.

I saw your comment from 5months ago, AE kayaks are not only ideal for people that are older, I am 19, and have one too! The compact design makes it very easy to transport. I have had mine a year, and I also do not have the backbone. It would probably help in water that is choppy, but for people like us that use it in a lake, you should be fine! I love my kayak!

This is the ideal kayak review for those of us who are in the higher age range. Most other videos show one foot being placed in the kayak and then cut straight to paddling. I'm new to kayaking and am now totally reassured about getting in and out of such a kayak. Thanks for your honest and valuable review!
