Been looking for weeks for just the right rack to build for our very small space, and with some mods,(after looking at tons and tons of designs) this is what I'm basing my design off of. Sturdy, efficient and not complicated to put together. My question though, is could the angle braces be pulled in to a 45 angle to reduce the overall length of the arms? I'm trying to save every possible inch... it's a really small garage!

Hey April, I noticed you using a Milwaukee sliding miter saw. I've been eyeing that saw for a while - what are you thoughts? Is that the saw you bought to replace the Ridgid Miter saw that you had (I think thats's what you had that fell) before?

Have you considered building your own kayak or canoe? There are a few designs floating around for cedar strip canoes, I'm sure you could adapt the cedar strip style to build a kayak. Although it might turn out to be a bit longer term project than usual.

I've notched out joints with that exact same technique many times. It's encouraging to see someone else do it as well. A suggestion is that you could save the notching in this design by replacing the 4x4's with 2x4's. There would still be more than enough structure.

How come you only cut lines over and over and then hammer out an chisel the rest? Why not just make a second cut with a Sawzall or some other blade that would be big enough?

WD40 is great for the plastic on the kayaks. It helps rejuvenate the plastic, just in case it ever does have to sit in the sun, or for just general upkeep.

In my opinion, half the material is enough. Do not be angry, but it is impractical. Others lie on the ground, the back of the planks is useless. It does not even reinforce the construction.

The advert at the beginning was nearly double the length of the video. My rule is if it's more than 30 seconds I skip it. Apparently if we skip an ad the program maker doesn't get paid. So shorter ads means less skipping and more dosh.

You are only behind my wife as the best. Put the racks on the back of the shop with a roof maybe? Tarp the sides to keep UV rays from destroying the boats. Sacrificial tarps are cheaper than boats.
