Next season's purchase: A carbon fiber paddle. Long sea trips get tiring when pushing water and hefting a paddle. I tried a paddle that a friend had. It was longer, had a bent shaft, adjustable feather and was carbon fiber. My heavy, wide kayak is a real barge to begin with, but that paddle made the 10 mile journey so much easier.

Forgot to mention that straight shafts are stronger, and that there is no reason why a whitewater paddler would ever want feather.
