if the stabilizers are installed and made properly then they work exceptionally well. I have personally made them for my canoe and for kayaks. they will add a great deal of stability to the point where i can stand up and fish out of either craft. it takes a little research and know how but they will work when done properly

Wow what a misleading video. People are better served by learning proper paddling techniques, and self rescue options. To put one of these on your boat and think you are safe is very misleading, ESPECIALLY to the inexperienced boater.

That's good. The first video I've seen that shows the stabilizers in their folded position as well. Obviously nobody wants to do all the paddling with the stabilizers down.

there's no point in adding that contraption to your boat if you're just going to sit on the back deck and rise your centre of gravity like that, its a contradiction

yup...the Great Barrier Reef is calling me.....I am so lucky to live in Cairns Australia, with the Daintree River etc etc etc etc etc JUST OVER THERE! (the first time I hopped into my Winner sea kayak, I flipped it 5 times and didn't have a lot of fun, you have to be going fast all the time to keep those big sea kayaks stable). I'd rather spend as little time floundering as possible up here (we have the Box Jellyfish, the Irukanji Jellyfish and actual man-eating crocodiles to name some hazards)

You caught me RIGHT in the middle of that exact little DIY project. I'm butchering a set of Aluminium (or Aluminum in the US) crutches, as they already have a perfect length slider thingy on them and look as if they are already almost custom made for the job. The PVC pipe is DEFINITELY the way to go. I'm even considering putting some T joiner pieces along each length so I can use them for storage on long camping trips as well as stabilising the unruly Beast (Winner/OutdoorExpedition EcoTour) ;D

Going to agree with the below comments. They're not exactly pleasing to the eye. They look more like scaffolding on the kayak yet still don't appear to be very rigid.
