the fishs swim blader expanded causing the stomach to be forced up to the mouth, killing the fish. when fishing for rock cod you should bring them up slower and give the fish breaks to get used to the new depth.

Just so everyone knows not all fisherman fish like that. That's the wrong way to catch and release bottom fish. Could have easily been avoided :)

Real fishermen , release the fish they don't need , and they do not just them Back" with out Also reviving the fish . I am guilty of this once , with a hybrid striper bass that was just under size, but I was also fishing from a dock on a river and I could not retrieve it, before floating down stream .

Seriously poor catch and release practice. If your planning to fish catch and release de-barb your hooks easier on the fish and you when it comes to un hooking. Also give the fish more time to recover don't just throw it in after it's gave you a hard fight !!

I've been fishing for 35 years. You should be ashamed to call yourself a fisherman, catching fish and then throwing them back dead. An insult to fellow anglers across the world. Either adjust your tackle to suit or use equipment that can cope with unhooking quickly and humanely if you have a quarry that cannot be taken to eat.

So you kayaked way out to sea and went deep sea fishing- pretty brave and yeah it's great that you caught some cool fish and made it back alive (a deduction made from the fact you uploaded the video). But OF COURSE the catch and release method failed- at 2:04 you could literally hear the 'thwack' as you threw the scorpion fish into the water, poor thing, after having wrestled a hook out of its mouth. Shame on you.
P.s. I was also a little disappointed by the lack of shark
