Hey Tony, great idea. Not sure if this would work on my 20 year old Hobie Outback due to the textured finish of the roto-molded polyethylene but I like it. If I can find the suction cups, I may give this a try. I have a suggestion for you to improve this design. Use an additional piece of PVC between the suction cups as a spacer so they don't have the room to overlap. This slight improvement will make deploying the transducer much easier, especially while out on the water.

I like the idea but instead of suction cups which will not hold on a scratched kayak, I woud you a piece of strong velcro.

Yeah I guess this sort of works if you don't mind launching awkwardly... you have fragile equipment on the bottom of a kayak.. and also you just let your transducer cable dangle, quite out of place looking. I guess it works

I put it on after I launch. No need to launch awkwardly. Most of the cable is out of sight when on the water. I guess it does look out of place to the fishes.... This was cheap and fast but most importantly, it works. Thanks Preston.

+Jonas Tatu A transducer is a device that shoots out a sonar beam and times or pings the return data giving you a view of what's in the water and also the bottom contour and interpreted on a display. In this case, on your depth/fish finder's screen.. Basically it's the little black thing that I'm showing you how to mount in the video haha.

think a bracket holding in back over and just under the water but not in the way of being damaged hitting something would be a better ideal. if the trans doesnt have to be in the water then why not mount it above and completely out of harms way. Im not an expert on this just saying is all.
I have only known of these devices for a total of three days. personally just need one to tell me the depth and speed of my outrigger. But nice video , Thanks.

How do you zip-tie it to pipe if your transducer doesn't have a housing you can drill through? will zip-ties wrapped around transducer interfere with signal???

If you have trouble finding the suction cups, go to a dollar store, they have them or your wife may have some old window art lying around that has a suction cup on it to secure it to the window.
