Looks narrow. Kind of unstable. I’ll stick with my Intex Mariner inflatable boat for $300 or so...add a motor and presto!

That does not even look safe for a lake on a windy day. 1 to 2 foot waves. No way.

Hard work to set up, ok for a pond, but never never for the sea. The slightest wind will make it impossible to paddle. Look how calm it is for the ad, they would never film it in windy weather. A toy.

Hi we are quite interested in one, just wondering what happens if one of the inflatable gets punctured. Does it still float? Can you still use the motor or do you have a row? Thanks

Does this fall under the classification as a boat or a kayak when it comes to safety gear requirements?
xparte
xparte - 7 years ago
Freedom Inflatables - thanks for that. Trying to decide b/w an inflatable dinghy and this. Don't want to register the boat so will be keeping the motor low but was also hoping it was classified as a kayak to avoid carrying all the extra gear like anchors etc due to the more limited space compared to a dinghy.
Freedom Inflatables
Freedom Inflatables - 7 years ago
It's classified as a boat, so safety requirements at that level need to be observed. Remember also that the motor you attach, or more specifically the speed at which you plan to travel (10 knots or more) determines whether you'll need a licence or not.
The NSW Boating Handbook can be found here - https://tinyurl.com/kwerx2x
Hope this helps

Good question mate. It is robust enough to be used in all conditions, but having said that it IS designed as a shallow water craft, and so flourishes in a calmer aquatic environment. The open ocean may be a bit too rocky, and possibly uncomfortable in a small boat such as this.
Hope this helps :)

Yeah the platypus is a weird looking creature lol.
We do have some fierce animals here in oz, especially on the top-end. Everything there wants to kill you :)
Which is why I'd never go swimming up there. The rest of oz is fine. Come check it out sometime!!

Ah ok cause i was like that's allot of money , you guys must make bank in Australia, but your waters have way more dangerous things in it for people to be in a none metal boat am i right ? we have some big alligators were i fish .BTW platypus are awesome ! When it hits the US market with a reduced price i would like to own one, very creative boat i like how it can have the motor on it , keep in mind we like to take our dogs fishing with us and it needs a claw proof bottom .

What brand Hydrofoils are being used on the 3.5HP?

No worries at all, appreciate it. Will be in contact when I am ready to purchase one. Thanks very much!
Freedom Inflatables

The 3.5hp is the most popular size for the Nifty Boat right now. While it is true that the 4-5hp may give you that extra push with more souls onboard, I don't think you'd be justified in buying a whole new motor. The 3.5hp is an all-round good size, and it'll get the job done nicely. Since you've already got the 3.5, I think you're good to go. Don't forget to type OPEN5 at checkout (in the discount field) to get 5% off the total price.
FREE shipping too mate :)

Hi there, thanks for the quick reply & info. I will check them out if I end up needing some but thought they may have been the Blueline H/Foils. I know that Nifty Boats are rated for up to 5hp motors but is there a preference? Is 3.5hp more than suitable & the recommended size as that's what I already have? Only thing I was concerned about was the extra weight of the 4-5hp motors over a 3.5hp but the extra power would come in handy when carrying a extra person on board.

G'Day again, sorry for the delay. Today was flat out.
OK, so I'm going to send you a link to my competitor's site. I simply don't have these products and they do -
http://www.bcf.com.au/Product/Blueline-Hydrofoil-To-50Hp-Small-Black/329254?menuFrom=571500

Most marine stores have them and there are two basic types. One set is for motors up to 50hp and the other type are for over 50hp. So the smaller set is for our Nifty boats/motors. You just need to line them up accurately on the motor and drill some small holes with a drill then you can bolt them on.

If you don’t already know what they do they assist in cavitation, which basically happens when the prop wants to lift up. They do help with the motors on the Niftys but since we have tilted the transoms on a slight angle from the previous 90 degree versions at the start, it has made all the difference to where the prop sits in the water, and we find we don’t need hydrofoils anymore. Hope this helps.

G'Day, hope you're well :)
Because the Mercury motor is not something we stock at this time, I don't know the answer to your question off the top of my head. But I have messaged someone who would know, and am just waiting for their response. I'll get back to you shortly.
Regards
Dave K
