I went to the cape on Saturday but it was a bit too windy so I ended up going crabbing in t-dad. Not in too much of a hurry to see a gws but still wish I would have waited for Sunday. Simply amazing!

Not sure those are wounds on its side. Looks more like remoras that have attached themselves.

Thanks for that - good input. After reviewing it more closely in the slow-mo version and hearing from some others, I think those are wounds from the male of the species that indicate recent mating - she is likely pregnant. An interesting fact learned was that the females have thicker skin to accommodate the biting of the males during mating!

+LoletaEric That's wild. I've heard of young ones taking small baits like that off the piers and such, but never an adult. I'm guessing that's the equivalent of a piece of popcorn to the shark.

The salmon will always be my focus. It took a herring! We were rockfish and lingcod fishing - it wasn't halibut bait, I just thought I might have a halibut on when I saw BIG and tan under me.
