How to Clean Your Kayak - Quick & Easy

You never are really too enthused about cleaning your kayak after a long hot day on the water, but I managed to find a great product to help remove all of the guts and grime with ease. It's called bug remover by 3D, I've found that it's safe on most surfaces when used as directed. Simply spray the cleaner on the kayak and allow it to soak for two minutes, then simply rinse. If you encounter a stubborn stain, you can use a medium bristle brush to rub and agitate the area which usually does the job just fine. Josh, awesome video brother. I have to order some of that stuff now and give it a try. Also, I have been trying to research how to maintain the bottom, in terms of the big scratches you get on the bottom from pulling ashore with rocks. Any ideas?

Thanks for the compliment and comment, it definitely works. On my Predator kayak it has a skid plate on the back. therefore we can drag it and it will only impact that plate. I am not sure of what else could withstand that kind of beating.

@Jon Snow....How about because I will probably sell my Kayak in a couple of years and want it to look like new as possible. If I were buying a used Hobie I would much rather buy one from someone who takes very good care of it rather than some ignorant white trash redneck who couldn't give a shit less about how they took care of it.

john snow If you enjoy sitting in a stinch ridden yak, and do not care to preserve it's appearance, that is your prerogative. This video was made to show how to quickly remove slime, blood and guts from the kayak, so you don't spend uneccessary time scrubing.

I wanted to see if you would say something in the video about how blood or rust can ruin a kayak and see if maybe i should rethink my outlook but that was not the case. If you want to waste time and money on solvents and make your yak nice and shiny so you can impress the other dudes that are fishing with all your cute little stickers more power to you. Joshua Taylor explain to me how a blood stain ruins the plastic on the kayak? If anything I would think a solvent would be harder on plastic than fish blood. Or especially the adhesive on those stupid stickers would eat HDPE over time. Hosing off the sand and dirt should be plenty of upkeep. My dad has had his kayak for over a decade and has never used more than hose water on it.

Had to put my Predator 13 in the back yard after my motorcycle took over the garage. Got some nasty mildew & leaf stains on my seat. Any suggestions on a good cleaning agent that wont damage the seat? Thanks

Hey Michael, try soaking it in Dawn and baking soda for a little bit. This may do the trick.
