In this video Dave from Fergs kayaks Wellington NZ shows us a few tips on how to get back into your sit on top kayak in the case of a capsize...NOTE: this video is just a quick reference, it is highly recomended that you take a course to get the full understanding of how to self rescue quickly and safely. for more info on courses see the following link to Fergs Kayaks http://www.fergskayaks.co.nz/home/kayaks/courses-and-tours/kayak-courses/auckland-kayak-courses/sea-kayak-courses/basic-paddle-skills-wgtn/ All video and editing was done by me www.paddleguy.com

Two suggestions. First, after overturning your body will be low in the water like a sea anchor and your boat will be bobbing on the surface like a cork ready to be quickly blown away from you...if your not holding onto it. So hold on to it. Since you will likely need your hands to put the float bag onto the paddle you can use put your foot into the boat, or under a line. Second, my personal preference is to put the bag on the paddle and then secure the paddle to the boat. And of course this is all a lot easier since you wore your life vest and you don't have to tread water. Be safe.
Great video demonstration so clear and easy to understand instructions.
Thank you so much.
