Angelo Gamble I would say no. I wouldn’t advise it. Maybe the K2 Tandem version would be better fit.

The material isn’t the same Inflatable material as popular inflatable paddle boards I have reviewed but I’m sure you could attach the same rod holders. Just keep in mind it is basically air bed material. Check out the inflatable paddleboard video I did. Those rod holders likely will adhere to this same material. Could also do my no drill anchor trolley mod possibly. Amazon has several affordable kayaks. Just check out links in video description. If planning to add more gear go with a tandem.

This is described as a 9 ft Kayak. I looks about 6 ft in length at most. Can this fit a person who is between 5'10 (178) to 5'11 (180) ? I'm thinking about purchasing 2 of these one for myself and one for my female friend so we can enjoy kayaking together.

I just bought one on Amazon for $8 bucks! it's taking a while to ship but that's ok, can't beat the price!

Thank you for the video! It's great to see how it comes together since I don't have experience with these. Would have liked to see how the foot rest went in. Didn't see any velcro, so not sure how it attaches but I'm sure there's directions.

This is way beyond what can be expected from an inflatable. Intex is high quality and quite impressive.

I bought this August of last year. It's best not to inflate the bottom part of the seat, this will give you more leg room. Overall, it is a nice Kayak, Ive caught alot of fish in it, howver after just a few months it developed a hole in one of the seems. Then just last week another one in a different seem. Im buying a better Kayak, to me, this is ok for the money.

would any of you guys recomend a k2 over a k1 for fishing?
KayakDIY
KayakDIY - 7 years ago
+Gabe Kleeberger The K2 might be a bit better since with fishing. However, just remember it is an inflatable and hooks don't pair well. The material of the K2 and K1 are about like inflatable mattresses. You do need to be careful for sharp objects. High end inflatables like Hobie brand can handle sharp objects better and use thicker material. However, you can't beat the price of the K1 and K2.

The foot rest actually has two functions. The most important is to raise the nose part so your toes don't get cramped. Which is one of the most complaints. And taller people may need a little extra cushion to push aginst.

+Jono Muzz I'm 6ft 2in. It fits me. I prefer not to have seat in so I usually paddle without it. The k2 linked in video description is a bit bigger if you have concerns and still want affordable portability. I like both my K1 and K2. They are great for road trips.

great video guys. Could i use this in the sea? I really want to get this kayak and live by the coast in the UK. Would I get blown all over the place or should it be ok?
KayakDIY
KayakDIY - 8 years ago
K1 is best at home on lakes/rivers/streams. You likely won't enjoy yourself at sea...especially on a gusty choppy day....On a nice day with calm waves maybe. The K2 linked above in video description tracks a bit better due to its length, but I was surprised how well the K1 tracks.

Hi there, thank you for the video !!!! is this kayak stable on the water ? .... would you recommend it ????
KayakDIY
KayakDIY - 8 years ago
+jorge de souza Yes. Quite stable on the water. Not meant for river Rapids or debri filled waters (punctures/leaks). Otherwise a great travel kayak for the money. The K2 linked in video description is the tandem version but can be paddled solo.

Is this the best 1 man inflatable kayak under $200?
KayakDIY
KayakDIY - 9 years ago
I think it has to be the best single person kayak for the money (under $200). If you are a larger person it might make sense to get the K2 and paddle as a single. I'm 6ft 2" and 180lbs and fit fine. I kept seat bottom deflated due to not liking elevated seating position. The inflated backrest was nice.

This is an excellent brand to fish out of. My very first fishing kayak was the older version intex k2. I fished out of it many times with only one picture from a discarded treble while launching. patched it right there on the shore and never had another problem. I went with the K2 because the K1 seemed small for bigger people and limited options to rigging. With the excess room I rigged mine with a removable 1/2" plywood floor, milk crate with rod holders, folding seat, anchor trolley, custom retractable skeg, and finally a front mount with a sonar and extra rod holder. With inflatables the capacities are never close to accurate so a k2 might have been better for these options but I have enjoyed your other videos and can't wait to see what you can come up with for the newer k1. Keep up the good work, your videos are very informative, detailed and enjoyable.

+cz2509 Sorry cz2509, but I have tried photo bucket and can get it to work. also no luck with my own fourm which I am having major problems with, You would have to join it anyway just to view my pics if I could even get them back up. Im more of a viewer on YouTube and can't even figure out a way to make a quick slide show of the yak mods. If you have any ideas short of posting my private E-mail to the whole world I wouldn't mind sending you those pics directly to ya. I'm just dealing with a lack of tech savvy right now but I'll keep trying. Till then if you have any questions about what I used on any of the mods I made to the old k2 I'd be more than happy to give you graffic, descriptions of how and what materials I used.

+KayakDIY The skeg is a lttle bit dicey, and prone to falling off. also a way to mount a rod holder would be cool.
KayakDIY
KayakDIY - 9 years ago
We received your comment. We will keep this in mind. The K1 and K2 are similar in design. Many of the mods in mind will be applicable to both models. What type of mods are you interested in for the challenger K-series?
Matt Kerry
Matt Kerry - 9 years ago
+cz2509 hey cz2509, if I can I will post some pics of my k2 mods on a fishing forum I'm on in Chicago and give you the name its under. For some reason I'm having log in problems so If I can't get that sorted out I'll figure out some way of releasing them. Now I'm two yaks removed from my K2 so my pics are not close up details, some we're from when I just started mods and was figuring what I could and couldn't do. For example I don't probably have close up pics of my final retractable skeg but I could give you instructions on what I used and what worked or even what in hind sight I thought might have worked better. Especially after watching many other DIY'er ideas. Much of the old yak has been parted out due to newer shiny toys to mod but if my wife isn't successful in making me sell it I still have ideas and new plans for that yak. And now I even have the luxury of messing up knowing it's not my only rig. I'm currently not aware of PM'ing through YouTube but if you can think of a way I can send you the pics directly let me know and I'll send them to ya. Till then give me a bit and if need be I will register on another sight post the info here and put the pics on there forums gallery.

Yeah...tandem is the way to go at that price. Not bad inflatable at all for on the go. I would even pack it for surf fishing trips to paddle baits out farther. It is not an ocean kayak by any means...but it floats and the skeg helps a lot in tracking.

+KayakDIY bro amazon changed the price to 100$ for this version :( but the tandem version is still 109$ so u may want to go with the tandem version cause ur only spending 9$ more but its like twice the length
