The rod storage tubes are great to destroy lures and a pain in the butt to use. The whole Kayak needs to be 4" wider so you can use the rod storage with anything but a cane pole. It also is too narrow to use the upgraded seats with the side storage. The semi dry storage is always wet, the tracks are in the worst places, the tech deck fits nothing in the recesses on the sides, the glove box is great for losing your phone in the kayak. If you use a box in the glove box its almost impossible to get it out. Mine is pretty stable but I still ont feel comfortable enough in it to stand up. I think if you fixed all of these things it would be a great kayak. I prefer it over sit on tops because in FL the gators are an issue and it gives you the security of being able to have the lower center of gravity and it also tracks very well. I also own a big rig and think it is less of a value than the Kilroy for fishing but it has some of the features that the Kilroy should have....combine them you have a great kayak, separately you have an ok kayak.

That is a well thought out boat. I'm really interested. Looks like you could even skirt the thing for some rougher water creek trips. The only thing I'd like to see offered for stand up fishing would be a detachable, rear mounted outrigger set option.

Hi, going out for a about 100 mile hike through the north of sweden.

I have two questions

1 Where can i get a hold of a Kilroy in Sweden?
2 Will be using the water to make may way most of the time. There is however a few passes where i will have to drag my kayak. What material is used in this kayak, and will it hold for beeing draged across stones.

Don't know why people are worried about reentery after a capsized. I did it once in the middle of one of the prongs of moosehead lake in Maine, accidentally capsized in an old Walden experience sport and managed to bilge it and and get back inside when I was 18 or so. Course I did have hands on training on how to deal with this at a summer camp when I was 13 or so, it was the only way I was allowed to go on some of the longer canoe trips. That training was really important, TRAINING is really important. Of course I don't do any crazy rapids or anything. Yes I own a kilroy. No I've never owned a sit on top, I don't think I want to either.

LOL if you don't want to get wet, maybe kayaking isn't the sport for you... So what happens when this boat gets swamped? Looks like a real pain in the butt to pump out. Why is nearly every single fishing kayak made in the US, slow, wide and heavy with very high C.O.G???

So,,,with the removable "deck" removed, you lose the paddle staging holder? I would think that the frame/body would have recessed areas to accommodate a paddle in such a situation. These small features become valuable when on the water. Maybe the 2014 model will build upon this 1st gen. release. Looks to be decent, but would love to see Jackson put it to good hard use in a video.

It would be nice to see a proper video of the stability too, how much can you dance before you tip it over, how will it handle waves from front and side, how do you get back into it once you have swamped it.

Damon! I just saw this kayak at my fav yak store, The Outside World, in Dawsonville, GA. I've been kayak fishing now for several years and always thought my Ultimate was the ultimate...until now! Brent at TOW gave me a thorough run-through of the Kilroy and it is a MUST HAVE yak. If I had had the U12 with me today it'd be in their demo fleet and I'd have a Kilroy in my garage right now! A superb looking yak!

I've been looking at a cuda for a while now and couldnt wait to get one till i saw this kayak. This looks awesome for a fly fisher man. are the rod storage locations able to fit 9' fly rods?
