Can anyone give the real truth about the weight. No one mentions lugging a heavy F'ing kayak around is a royal pain in the ass compared to a light one you can throw on your roof and just go. There are pedal kayaks now that are under 50 pounds. Don't forget the trailer for heavy Kayak. Anyone have a link to a good review heavy vs light?

Paintball SKILLZ depending on your preference and also what vendors you have in your area, you could easily get a basic 10ft of several brands and styles, even an 8ft SOT. however being that your finances are quite limited and also have limitations being at the will of whoever will transport you id say to just get a cheap 10ft as a starter, with your size nearly any of the more budget kayaks will suit you well. I will say with absolute certainty that none of the kayaks displayed in tbis video will be in your price range and that even applies to the luckiest finds of a used one. These kayaks for the most part are closer to $1000 but a future beach, sundolphin, pelican, etc will have a perfect yak for you in your price range and thats including tax. If you have a dunhams discount sports near you, id say that your best bet will be there. If you're crafty and possibly have an adult or older person willing to assist you with a project you could be like me and build the ultimate sit on top fishing kayak that can possibly weigh anywhere from 23lbs to 40lbs out of xps foam and an small variety of other products. Im currently building my second kayak and they are so perfect. You can build 2 with your budget or build one and splurge on tackle, and gear to have an exciting experience with a kayak you can carry for only $150- $200 depending on your personal preferences of what to add on. Its a genius free boat plan, with incredibly detailed instructions and is possible with zero power tools. The creator is "Rowerwet" and names the sawfish kayak, on instructables.com. My first kayak buildd the "golden sawfish" can be found in the comments with a few pictures and best of all the inventor who provides these free plans is incredibly helpful if you need any questions answered, he really knows his stuff and always got back to me in fast time. If you are interested in building possibly tbe best kayak ever in my opinion, with everything you need able to be gotten from a lowes or home depot for less than $200 then simply google search "sawfish kayak" and click the instructables link and voila prepared to feel very accomplished, and thrifty with spending as well as impress everyone you encounter while bobbing the water it your ultra light SOT fishing kayak that is unsinkable and incredibly durable. Good luck in your kayak endeavors regardless of the route you choose and if you fish, tight lines my young yaker.

#XAVIER NETTO Folks, great video, I fish fresh and salt out of a Field and Stream / aka Old town Kay-noe which was made for Dicks sporting goods under the F&S label - It's basically the Discover 119 solo. Awesome little boat if you can get your hands on one. high pack cap, lower seat for balance and plenty of room for gear/movement.  I even use it during duck season. @valuelessfawn6

Hi mike, I am an avid kayak angler and I also enjoy wildlife photography. I use a Ride 115 which is a sit on top it is very stable and carries a lot of weight. I also have a Pungo 140 which is a sit inside that I use for cruising. I will say on calm water the Ride seems to have a lot less movement and works well as a platform for photography. I can also sit sideways on the Ride which may be conducive to getting the right angle on certain shots. The Pungo has a lot of movement even on calm water even if it is self induced body rocking that translates to boat movement. Both have great storage for dry bags etc. I can speak for both of these Wilderness Systems models. Hope this helps.

bro like half of the kayaks were sit on top, but if you really want speed then you definitely should use a sit in kayak, u wont get as wet and there shaped for speed, personally my customized sea kayak that has dry boxes and and stuff that the sit on top kayaks has but mine are in the kayak and are protected by water without using a dry box so i say go with a sit in kayak for speed and sit on top kayak for ok speed but more stability....

Is a 2.90 meters (9.5 feet) and 80 cm (31.5 inches) width kayak a decent choice for a saltwater beginner angler?
Feiz Glencross
Feiz Glencross - 8 years ago
i have a Tarpon 100 the older model, its 10 ft and ive been up to 10 miles off the coast in England,,,, it was fine very stable even in heavy swell and waves, i think its not so much the length, but more the design of the hull that matters,,,,,go out and test it, but go with another kayaker who could help if you need it, start by staying close in to shore, then see how comfortable you feel.
The aim is enjoyment :)

+nz rockdj This is true, but all im trying to point out is if you're serious about kayak fishing you need a hands free boat and hobie is the top of the line. Very expensive, very stable and quality. Made in America. I think this guy is trying to endorse wilderness because he does not feature a single other brand. Also a base Mirage is only 200-300 more than the wilderness.

I use a wilderness systems ride 115. I fish on the Chesapeake Bay and the only down side is it is slower than a longer boat 14 foot for example. You can stand in it and it takes boat wakes well. Its also around $1100 depending on model.

bought a wilderness ride 115 brand new two weeks ago, didn't like it, slow and heavy, traded it back in for a pungo 140 and I love it, tracks really nice and is fast, was easier to learn to fish out of the 140 than it would be to make the 115 faster I guess..

Well done. One thing worth expanding on though is that "capacity" doe not refer just to th amount of gear brought along. It especially relates to paddler size/weight. . A 250# paddler  that goes with a  10' yak is a common mistake and  recipe for disappointment ( or at least a VERY wet ride.)

Would you recommend a predator 13 by old town. I am 13 and about 130lbs and 5'3. I would like to have alot of storage on it for at least 4 rods. And maybe 2 full tackle boxes. Also I would like to stand up in it and fish without worrying about it flipping. Thanks for any help...

I enjoy my Predator MX, but if you're hauling a lot of gear, take a look at the Nucanoe Frontier boats... I almost got one, its a canoe/kayak combo with tons of add ons to suit your needs.
