John I have to say that I've read both of your books and wanted to thank you for sharing some of your experience and secrets. Mostly want to thank you for sparking my interest in bucktailing, being a novice for the last 4 years I had never knew the old lead heads were so versatile. Any who aside from the thanks I also wanted to ask you what your opinion is on the spinfisher v (specifically the 4500) I'm on the fence about which size to purchase. Because I want a single reel that I can interchange between a 7 foot inshore rod and a 9 foot surf rod. Is the 4500 a size ideal or should I choose a step above it?

You seem to only use Gulp in your bucktailing for fluke videos. Do you think that bait strips on a bucktail would work as well? Thx, Tom

I didn't need to taper the meat. The fillets on the smallish brown robbins were fine uncut. I cut the larger fillets from the orange robins lengthwise, and that was it.

John, I just started making & using belly strips the past couple weeks, wish I could have seen a lttle more detail on how you make yours, was wondering how much meat you leave on them, do you taper the meat toward the tail of the the bait, does shape matter very much? Thanks.

I have tried the gulp sand worms and they don't work that well. I usually catch 5-10 porgies when i go out and when I used this I caught one sea robin. I got some hits but after that hit they didnt come after it. I would get like a small pack of it if you want to try it out.

James, I have heard of sea robin soup, however, sea robins tend to be very tough. These fish are very bony and rough so I suppose the tail can be filleted, although there will not be a lot of meat
