If it's over about 15 watts you'll need a controller. I use about 8 watts on mine, because I run my stereo off my trolling motor battery ( rarely is it on) and I just want a tiny bit of juice added back. It isnt much...but it's something.

Torqeedo is expensive isn't it? Like almost $2k. Isn't Watersnake better? Like $375 on ebay. What's the pro & con of Watersnake?

Thanks for the reply. There are 3 on ebay now that are preinstalled. It seem only slightly slower. Nice to have GPS and battery status but you get some of it from a good fishfinder. I just think the price is a big pro over the Torqeedo. I guess I'll rather try it out rather than spend close to $2k. It would be like paying for a Hobie Compass or almost a new Outback.

Slower, heavier , dont last as long, have to cut off the head and mod it ... need to buy battery not as optimized, no GPS tracking and speed...pro? Cheaper

Quick question. I know you demo the old town Topwater I just bought the 120 i saw the hole in front of the kayak where you put the transducer Cable thru. What’s you thought can put a trolling motor Thru there and some have the motor out of there? Or is the hole to small?

That's different, and inventive.. If you cross the lines in back that lead to the Torqeedo, it would turn in the direction that you turn the steering wheel instead of turning in the opposite direction....just saying.
