U shud get a boat dude if U really want to stand up and fish lol

KayakAdventures210 - 5 years ago
Why? I can get places boats can't. I can travel where kayaks can't reach while using the motor. Storage is easier than a boat. Price and maintenance is nothing to argue over. And wait or it...……….. I can stand up and fish.

Here we go again... I've saved a hell of a lot of money getting a yak then a boat. I can launch it anywhere and everywhere a boat can not. I can store it in places a boat can not be stored. And oh yea, I can do everything a boat can do plus more. So please explain to me why I should have gotten a boat? I'll wait...

You should tip this over without your gear in shallow water and practice flipping it back over before it sinks. It will save you someday in deep water

Hi Mark... just wondering if you can still steer with the kayak rudder to turn right snd left as I plan to extend the engine Throttle wire, steer with the kayak rudder and run the engine straight... have you tried this and will it work?
Ashley Kenneth
Ashley Kenneth - 6 years ago
Thanks Mark that's awesome and more convenient, reason why i asked was because you used the extended tiller to steer on the Blue Kayak, I did not know that you can still steer with the kayak Rudder even though the engine Prop is running behind it.... This way I can set the engine to run straight as 12 O'clock as you suggested, set the throttle to run at 4knots and then steer using the kayak rudder... Thanks Mate enjoy your vids, good job
KayakAdventures210
KayakAdventures210 - 6 years ago
Ashley Kenneth Yes, that is exactly how I steer the yak. I use the rudder, it is so much more convenient. Keep the motor at the 12 o'clock, and use the rudder to steer.

KayakAdventures210
KayakAdventures210 - 6 years ago
You'll really like the comfort of the PA because of its stability, but it's bulky and is best if there is a boat ramp or open ramp... Also check out the Hobie Outback... But you cant go wrong with a Jackson, rugid, not to heavy, yet stable to stand in.
Todd Howard
Todd Howard - 6 years ago
oh ok, more than likely small bodies of water, stand up fishing for bass. i'm in south FL
Todd Howard
Todd Howard - 6 years ago
thanks man for your reply. what do you know about the atak kayak? they seem pretty sweet too
KayakAdventures210
KayakAdventures210 - 6 years ago
It's all comes down to what type of water you decide to fish.
KayakAdventures210
KayakAdventures210 - 6 years ago
Todd Howard Awesome, welcome. It's a great way to fish no matter what yak your in... So the Hobies come with the pedal included, you can still use a paddle if need be, but paddling the Hobie PA is tough due to size... I have a few buddies with Jackson's, and they love it. The capability of fishing all types of water with no issues is beneficial. But I can out peddle them any day of the week, in the roughest conditions possible...

We've considered a kayak for portable research boats, then we found the Scadden 9 ft Detonator inflatable pontoon boat that has a sufficiently rigid floor to allow a person to stand. The entire 28 pound craft fits into a duffle bag. Your idea is terrific to create a "flying bridge" to extend the deck over the pontoons to provide more storage and deck space. Thank you. It will be the best of all portable fishing crafts.

I quite like the platform for the front hatch, I might build one for my PA 17T when I get it so that I can mount a solar panel on it to keep my batteries charged for my sonar or motor or downriggers or lights or something. The standing platform is a little confusing to me. How do you access your live well? Couldn't you just build a larger live well and stand on that and maintain the functionality? Good video, though.

People commenting "why not just get a boat?". I guess money grows on trees for some of you. Plus if he is a kayak tournament angler then this is a major advantage for redfish. Boats arent always all they are hyped up to be. It takes alot of money to maintain not to mention the gas.

KayakAdventures210
KayakAdventures210 - 8 years ago
+pugilist102 The trailer makes launching and loading a yak fully rigged is much easier, "Easy on, easy off". And as a single angler the struggle of car topping a kayak regardless of the model, can and always will be a pain... Give a trailer a try.
pugilist102
pugilist102 - 8 years ago
+tdkman28 Anything that requires a trailer is no longer a kayak in my opinion. Kayaks are supposed to be easy on, easy off the water. Not saying his 'yak' isn't cool, it's just that it defeats the purpose of having a kayak in the first place.
