i really want to get my girl and son kayaking my son is very young though and my girl is afraid to paddle on her own. thought of getting a 2 seater but thats not enough for all 3 of us comfortably this looks like a very simple diy project for my future kayaking plans. and with to cheap kayaks wont break the budget all that much

Would be possible to mount wind sail on this platform as a backup ? As someone already suggested; small solar panel would be great addition to your batery. Nice setup btw ;).

I have milk crates lashed into the cargo hold of each kayak with a cedar 2x10 attached to the front of the crates connecting the crates, The motor in mounted to the 2x10 between the kayaks. Battery in 1 crate, bait bucket in the other. Have fun!

Great idea with the wrap-around strap holding down the 2x2s. Looks strong while allowing for movement which you need in any kind of wave action. I have a similar set-up in the keys. I tried all kinds of attachment methods and ended up simply lashing the kayaks together with poly rope. Not a very elegant solution but very strong and forgiving, letting the kayaks handle waves much better than the rigid connection methods I trialed.

Unfortunately, platform is too close to the water line. The seat is close enough to the kayak storage and battery. Yes the width of the platform is chosen exact for the ca. 200Watt solar panel.

another great video. looking at the battery placement i am wondering if it wouldnt be better to have the battery in a battery box on that platform near the seats so that way if there was a problem the battery would be in easy access while still on the water. that platform is big enough for one of those solar battery panels to trickle charge the battery too.hmmm got me thinkin...
