I parked at Langus Riverfront Park. Just up river from the Everett Animal Shelter is a crew shed and dock for the rowing shells, and a dirt lot across the street. The crew dock is a great place to launch. Then you paddle up river a mile and hang a left into the slough and go for 1/4 mile. I heard they have been cleaning up some of the dead boats since I shot this, but I haven't been back to check. Just past the boats in the slough, hang another left into the marshes of Spencer Island *at high water*. They are a great place to explore, with multiple entrances and lots of ducks.

You put in at Langus Riverfront Park, on the island between Everett and Marysville accessed from 529. There is a good dock at the crew barn just pas the animal shelter. Paddle up river 1/2 mile, then left into the slough.

I’m new to kayaking and have launched here twice now in as many weeks.
I really appreciate this video… including the prep in launch. I wasn’t too sure where to stage or if I could use that dock to launch, so it was very helpful. There so many trails down there to explore at high tide I think I'll spend most of the summer here. Thanks again.

I launched from there again this past weekend and tides were 11'+ which open up some really cool trails. Definitely time your tides right.

Cool! Glad you found this place. I particularly love penetrating into the marshes during high water. You can go in one corner near the docked boats and come out the far, opposing corner, a mile down. Yeah, lots of water trails in there. Also, if you paddle up the Snohomish past that first turn off, there are some fun derelict boats a quarter mile further up stream on the left (river right).

Another thing you can do is to pop down to the downstream end of the marshes and take the sloughs all the way down to the bay, go around the point where the long line of old pilings are, and return back up the Snohomish river to the dock.

Thought this was about Kayaking the Boat Graveyard. Over two minutes of watching you get ready, then almost another minute of paddling . All of that for about a minute and a half of wrecked boats.

I'm sure the docks and land around them are private, and no doubt all the floating and moored boats have owners too. If you are interested, though, go on over and chat with the folks around the docks on the weekend and they can give you the real scoop.

Yes, that area is tidal fresh water. Some of the boats are floating, while others are sunk and growing trees and otter holes. One looks suspiciously like the Minnow from Gilligan's Island.

It's an Epic 18x Sport, which is 18 feet long. It is indeed a fast boat, great for touring and moderate racing. It weighs about 40 lbs, so I can toss it onto my truck easily and carry it around by myself. Love the boat! Check out Epic's website.

Oh yea. It's a 40 lb Epic 18x Sport, Kevlar layup. Nice boat, fast and maneuverable, but not a great surfer because of the long, flat waterline and little rocker. Easy to toss around.

Sure! The old wreck at 3:30 is an old pram that was used to be used for fishing, It was "deposited" there during one of the floods that hit this area during high tides, an heavy flow from the Snohomish River, being made of aluminum, it was "holed"on a snag, and filled with mud, DOE ecology dept. does not allow recycling of these old boats due to the sensitive nature of this area. Several more are under water, and pose a navigational hazard to boaters. Home acres rd takes you up the dike, private.

@Dooby1986 I believe it's a towable... Used to tow behind a motorized boat to haul materials. The build looks if it was used for fish, crab ect but also same build used for coal or some type of aggregate.
Wildman Zen
Wildman Zen - 12 years ago
@Dooby1986 I have no idea. It's a metal hull with two large hatches at the rear, but all the superstructure is gone. The grassy bank immediately after it is actually the hull of a wooden ship, filed with muck, then grown over with grass.
