I think the kayak is edged on the wrong side on this film, as some other people commented.
Also, the first sequence in the film is not showing a bow rudder turn at all, but a hanging draw (a great one): the boat slides on the side, not turning.

Not one word of caution, this stroke can pull a paddler straight over and out of a kayak. Be cautious people.

My experience is that the edging on the opposite side of the paddle works best. the kayak it self turns alone only using edging. but with a draw it turns good edging both sides and one of the reason is that the kayak gets less surface contact an maneuvers quicker. But opposite side is most natural and less chance of capsizing. For hanging draw edge it on the same side to force the kayak to go sideways. the paddle force it for example to the left and edging the same side force the kayak to don't turn but sliding sideways...

Edging confuses me because it seems that you can edge on either side and still turn the same direction as you showed in the last demonstration. So then which is the side you want to use more often on-side or off side edge?
