Glad you're okay! I couldn't imagine doing that in a Kayak. The last time I went, the thing landed on the boat! (See the video below.) Though it measured at only 7', It would have been dangerous if I were solo on a kayak. Thanks for sharing!!!

We released the sturgeon as required by Idaho law. We are big on CPR "Catch Picture Release" so the fish may swim off to be caught again some day.

MK Albert , we were in the stretch between CJ Strike and Bliss dams. There's many great holes through that area and is home to one of two self sustaining sturgeon populations in Idaho. Look for depressions in the river bed as well as eddys for prime sturgeon areas.

We're located in the Boise ID area. In my opinion there's no better way to catch these monsters since it's nearly impossible to get spooled while being towed down river on a kayak. Guys who have never tried kayak sturgeon fishing always say after their first fish that there's nothing else in the world quite like it. Most of the fights are between 15-20 mins for most of the 7ft fish. Thank you for your support John Adams!
