It lasted about 6 months with minor touch ups where the most friction occurs.

Have the same kayak in lime green hahah this is the last thing I need to do now to be more happy with it. Amazon helped pimp the hell out of it already with like 50 more bucks, added some sticky sand paper to the whole front. Me and my colly will be cruisin in style now haha good video, simple and well explained and came out with a nice finished product. Thanks

Thank you for the video, I bought the same kyack and was looking to spruce it up, with this tutorial I was able to get an idea and use the camo pattern and paint. The plants worked great!

came out great..I'm kayak hunting and this will be the first thing I do.. I think the Krylon Fusion is the way to go on this..! one thing I'd recommend is clear coat it A TON of times tho!

Thanks! I apply 2 cans worth of clear coat after every paint job. It will scratch if you abuse it, but in 3 years I have never seen it fade.

+Glide1746 It needs a touch up from scratching from time to time, but the parts that don't get scratched are still going strong.

+Karma Lotus I've never had a problem with the paint fading from the water or sun, but it will get scratched up over time if you're not careful. A quick reapplication in the same format over the scratched area will fix it.

No, my canoe was puke red, any color I don't like I use the word puke in front of it to show my distaste for that color. And if you ever notice red is always the first color to fade in the sun and look like crap. ALWAYS! When I worked in a sign shop fpr a few months I found this out, it's a really good color to keep a sign shop in work touching up about every 6 months, and none of the other primary colors fade near that fast, yellow, green & blue take years. In thew sun, Red turns to puke in 6 months. I like my Lime Green kayak, but my puke red canoe is getting a make over paint job, just like yours.

I'm using your video as a tutorial to make my new Puke Red Canoe look good. I wanted Green but all Bass Pro had was this Sun Faded Puke Red Canoe with scratches "from shipping" with $100.00 discount, so I held my nose and bought it. You have given me a great idea on how to make it look better. It's like you don't have to be an artist to have a great looking personal water craft! Just use the art God gave us in nature to paint it with. Thanks for sharing!

+Max Gunter Krylon makes a paint specifically designed for use on plastics and they work well. That paint with a clear coat lasts a long time. I've never had any of my paint jobs fade or peel off except for areas of high friction when using that paint.

You should always sand it the first time, but you may need a base coat depending on the color you're going for.

I painted my kayak with spray paint and it looked awesome . . . at first. then the paint began to peel. It was camo so it doesn't look too bad, but still it peeled. I put a clear coat on it also. Just giving you my experience.

That's what it does, but a couple blasts with a khaki and some foliage spray and it disappears.

It's crazy how such a simple technique results in a kick ass paint job. I did the same thing with palm frawns on a surfboard, but with blues, and I couldn't believe how good it looked. Anyway, great job man!

Flat would be better if you want a true camo look, but I like to be as shiny as possible because boaters around here like to drink. It's holding up great, I take it out pretty much everyday. The only time the paint comes off is when I scratch it along something but I touch it up with OD green camo paint and you can hardly tell it has been patched. I might paint it again this weekend just for fun.
