Poor Man's Kayak Modifications

Cheap Menards kayak fishing modifications. This video was put together as a inexpensive way to get your sit in kayak water ready for fishing. I show you how to install heavy duty handles, an inexpensive anchor trolley system, flush mount rod holders and rod leashes. Keep in mind this is a sit in kayak, the open cockpit will allow water to get in. That being said, I do not use silicone on my drilled holes. What I do is use a rubber washer that fits the stainless steel screw nice and snug and then a stainless washer slightly over sized to the rubber washer to create a water tight seal. You will get more water through the cockpit opening then any hole on this kayak if any at all. These are inexpensive modifications to get on the water. At any time you can take these ideas and upgrade to better quality material and maybe even build on these ideas and make them better, it’s your yak. Keep in mind that any cuts and or holes you make a very hard to repair so measure tice cut once. Some of these mods are necessary and some may not be for your style of fishing. Be sure to check out my playlist of other kayak mods that may be helpful. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLfVZfM-DJU_q14F2e4JGl6QcNiquYWFCf www.austinkayak.com This was the place that had the cheapest deck eyes. Excelente trabajo. Yo te sugiero que coloques silicona para sellar los tornillos y el posa cañas, para evitar filtraciones.

he sounds nothing like john goodman
The ones on top, the only time it would matter is if drilling in to a location that has no access hatch. You also won't get much water, if any, in a regular flatwater lake type situation anyway.
I have an Old Town Angler that has styrofoam blocks in front and back ends
:D
If you check out my YT channel, you should find videos of me and my rig... Sometimes I put a 34 lb trolling motor on the back with a couple of pontoons to support the extra weight of the motor and battery.
I'm looking forward to getting to post videos from a few more locations around Sth Oz this coming summer... West Lakes is nice, but there are so many potential fishing spots in Sth Oz... Not sure whether to go round the coast, or up the Murray! ;)
Tight lines!
Hope you always carry something like a large sponge or small bucket on a rope, for bailing the water out, though! I know I would! :)

... ps.. is the anchor trolley for an actual "anchor"? I bought a small 8 pound collapsible anchor and thought about using just a double screw eyelet like you used.
... pss.. got it for $169 after the 11% rebate.
.
It will look a lot neater and be a lot less likely to come undone.
I did have to replace some eyelets on my kayak. I used marine sealant from our local Ace Hardware on the eyelets on the inside of my yak. Yeah, it's a sit-in and invasive water in the cockpit is unavoidable, but, I felt better inside by covering the bolts w/ marine sealant. Guess I'm OCD like that! LOL
Tip: Use heat shrink to cover your paracord knots, instead of tape.
