Should I be blocking my scupper holes on my outback? I'm 100 kg so no where near weight limit however I notice water always in the cargo area? Is that normal? No leaks at all inside kayak hull

fishyaker thanks fishyaker, its completely dry inside after the 2 times I've taken it out. I took it out again on Sunday and I noticed if I initially get in the kayak a lot smoother and gentler that no water came in at all initially. The day before my first attempt to board the yak was very heavy and rough and I was sitting on the bank waiting for waves to pull me out and paddling at the same time. The second time I walked out to about knee high water and calmly boarded and that seemed to change the whole thing

Adam,
It's normal.  Plugging them is just personal preference.  Most kayaks usually have a little water in them.  Just make sure there is none inside the hatches.  :-)

I am about to purchase a new SIT (considering Perception Access) and was going to get a scupper cart. So glad I saw this video!! Is there a non-scupper cart you would recommend? Reviews on some indicate they slide off easily. There is a compact one on 'LL Bean site, but I also want foam-filled tires. ☺

Let us know how it works out!  Man, that kayak has been around for a long time.  They were promo kayaks for Ocean Kayak dealers way back in the day.  :-)

There are so many brands with saddle style carts, and a lot are exactly the same OEM one's from China.  Most all work.  I just recommend using a cam strap to keep it from sliding out from under the kayak.  :-)

I saw another video where a guy said he just shoves some foam ear plugs in there, or even another that used a little plastic creature bait, to plug the holes. Thoughts?

Heck, if it works for them.  I like at least a little cleaner look.  :-)

My first sit on top kayak had incomplete scupper holes it was returned and a new one was putrchansed from a different run,,, and you can see if the holes are properly sealed you will see a lighter colored ring around the hole..... also if you sit to low in the water then plugs may be an answer. research the kayak before you buy most people will get one too small for them

You might be able to put a scupper plug into the scupper hole from bottom of the kayak...

I have a couple different repair videos.  The scuppers are a bit tough to repair though.  There are a few epoxy options, but most can crack off with time.

fishyaker would you know how to DIY the leak? I was thinking about coating the scupper holes with some type of epoxy? What do you think?

I bought a 300 dollar walmart kayak that was set up for fishing. I noticed my old kayaks scupper holes where much larger and drains alot better when I'm on the lake or harbor. My question is dose a larger scupper hole actually keep me dryer? Because it seems like the give a little extra room to drill out a little bit wider on the bottem. Right now it's only about the size of a 10 penny nail.

the scuppers werent punched out? You most likely have a thermoformed kayak and the scupper should be about the same size all the way down. beware though when messing with it, those kayaks are known to have poorly sealed scuppers.

Yeah mines leaked alittle after every trip ,so i i raised my Kayak up on two old tires and filled with water.
I soon found a leak in the scupper hole so i drained it and dried it out.
The hole was tiny say 2-3 mm so i roughed up the surrounding area and gooped it.
No more leaks.
