Huge Shark trails man in Kayak on Cape Cod Beach. The man paddled quickly to avoid the big shark as it chased it. No shark attack victim today, the man luckily escaped. Cape Cod beach a great white shark is spotted on the beach and everyone scams except one kayak who wasn't sure what was going on. He found out soon enough when he saw a huge great white shark swimming behind him. The kayaker's name was Walter Szulc and he paddled to shore without looking back as the big shark trailed him. Hundreds of people were yelling at him as he made it back safely. No one was hurt and after swimming around the beach, the great white shark left. 3 hours later, swimmers were cleared to go back into the water....I'm more scared of big sharks than giant snakes. There have been 75 reported shark attacks in the world this year with 12 deaths. The United States have had the most shark attacks with 29 people getting attacked by sharks however on one died as a result of these attacks. Great white sharks sightings have been increasing due to the seal population in the Nauset Beach in Cape Code Orleans, Mass. NOT a Nurse shark-it is a female Great White that was tagged a few days later and named "Large Marge." As of spring 2014, she is still active near Chetham on the Cape and estimated 18 feet long. Her story was told in the Shark Week special called Return of Jaws.

Well, if any shark comes close and begins to bump your kayak it's best to try and relax because it's trying to figure out if it's flesh. Search for Pompano Beach Kayak and Hammerhead shark to see what I mean.

A big white shark can reach 80km/h under water speed... i don t think it was swimming so high speed... so it did not chase really the kayak, it was just curious about it just, but i don t say it wasn t dangerous moment for kayaker, of course it was, but just if the shark really wanted to bit it , it would do.

Like a week later there was an attack, actually, it was the first attack in mass. since 1936. And it's good that there are so much great whites again. In Cape Cod there are laws protecting great whites and seals. There are over 40 sightings of great whites there a year, and thousands of seals now. Finally the population has renumbered. :)

If u are into sharks, do collect books and dvds (preferably Australian). They will set u straight once and for all. Have been into sharks when I was 5 or 6 years old, since watching Jaws for first time. Unfortunately while many grew to hate sharks I dont. They are the most misunderstood animals in the world. Get to know them and their behaviour first before spreading misguided negatives to other gullibles. And u have to stop thinking about Mega-jaws. Like the DoDos, the giants are long gone.

Any chance the doco came from the Yanks? Dont believe any of it. They love to get into peoples mind. They are full of it. Great White DO NOT attack if you swim toward it. It is well known that they show much caution as long if you spot them first. Having said that, they do take a snap at u but only because they already committed from distance away. That what they do with their natural prey - seals. It has been documented for over 30 years or since underwater filming began.

No, if they are out there they would get us - they arent fussy eaters. Take Tiger sharks for example. We are merely a snack bite. But no mega-jaws survived to this day. Full stop. Wishful thinking. No Megajaws exist today - last one died out approx 2 million years ago. And please, dont be the one asking how do i know if there isnt one 'out there'. Common sense that no giants survived today. They couldnt. They have no large prey to support themselves. Unfortunately since large whales started to migrate to colder waters the megajaws couldnt. Hence they died out.

Dont forget, people go into the water to play and have fun but Great Whites are only trying to survive so why are they getting bad rap for? So I suggest u need to do a bit more reading and hopefully appreciate sharks a bit more. And yes, that includes Great Whites.

Surfers get knocked over or worse suffered a bite. More often than not people died from blood loss or shock after getting torpedoed by Great Whites. Very rarely do a great white come back for second bite and if it did it would probably more to do with territory ground (from other sharks and people who are trying to save victims). This is why we have so many cases where people survived after getting attacked by Great Whites. They just dont like the taste of us and would go away.

I received another message from you but it seem to be removed from this column. U were asking about a attack on a surfer off Western Australia? Great Whites natural prey is seals. To get them Great Whites need to fully committed from some distance away, hence charging at great speed to knock it or getting a lucky bite. That is the only way to get a faster, nimble seals. So when Great Whites see a surfer board from some distance away it had to make a run for it some distance away.

Yes I am talking about Great Whites and again you are incorrect. If you did your little 'ol homework then you would have known there are thousands and thousands of cases where great whites went straight to a bait or a seal despite humans near-by. Secondly, great whites feed on seals but to get 'em they would have to commit their attack some distance away. I suggest you to do a bit more reading or watch dvds, they might help you set your mind straight.

At what point did it attack? Sharks do come in to investigate what is happening, and more often than not would just swim away without attacking. This misleading title is one of many reasons why people are afraid of sharks hence not giving a damn more than 100 millions are slaughtered every year. Change title, thank you.

That there was no basking shark. I've seen basking sharks all my life. That was a great white, sure and be true. Aye. And it looks like a 16 footer. One time I caught a 16 footer off Montauk. Had to stick two barrels in him. Two to wear him down and bring him up. Nowadays, these kids, they bring out everything. Radar. Sonar. Electric toothbrushes.
