Takes balls to ocean kayak, and it's not stupidity. Actually it's the opposite, takes a lot to pay attention to the sea conditions, weather, hazards, and managing your gear in a confined space. Ton of haters on here. Kayak Fishing is beyond rewarding, addicting and if you have yet to try, your missing out on a great experience. BUT guess it's just for idiots. LOVE THIS VIDEO!! Kayak fishing Zone... Try to put some foam insulation around the camera mounting pole where it goes into the rod holder on your kayak. This should provide some sound deading from the bangs and knocks on the hull. Try to make sure no solid contact link between the camera pole and the kayak.

I understand tossing the partially eaten tuna, but when he gets a bonita, which he swishes in the water, unhooks then tosses back in, it;s clear - he's using treble, barbed hooks on the jig. So, he never intended to release ANYTHING! Just have the fun of catching, but must absolutely KEEP or KILL everything he caught. What an asshole. Too bad the shark didn't hang on to the tuna; that jerk would probably fight the shark into his yak. Which would end so nicely.....

Lot's of people fish the ocean in kayaks and not one has been killed yet. The only two known kayak fatalities were off Southern California decades ago and they were kayaking together and not fishing. Found part of only one of them assumed it was a Great White. The greatest dangers are actually hypothermia or lightning or weather.

I'd like to get some pontoons on it though. We have a boat so I'm fairly experienced offshore, but nothing beats the thrill of catching a big one in a kayak.

I keep and me and my family eats every fish I gaff, check out my other videos and you will see lots of other fish been release.
I love and respect the ocean, I don't kill fish for fun and I will never do it.
Just like the other guy tell you, I do keep a fish bag with ice in front of my kayak. I can store up to 3 large fish in that bag… Tks for your comments

What makes you think he isn't going to keep a fresh tuna? Most people I know keep a fish cooler bag in one of the hull hatches. He used the gaff to get the tuna out of the water before the shark finished it off. The fish needed to be cut and bled out anyway to preserve the quality of the meat. I would go straight home and enjoy some fresh Ahi and Wasabi. Yum!

I love fishing as well either rock spinning on the coast, boat fishing offshore and kayak fishing offshore and yeah that happens..

Over here in the Azores we actually eat striped bonito and skipjack in several different ways and it's an awesome bait for basically everything.. that's why I asked as to why you released and not kept it.. ;)

Side note: over here we differentiate them due to the top fins pattern and of the actual pattern of colors.. the skipjack is more blueish and two top fins are seperated top fins and very distinguished from the stiped bonitos bridged top fins..

Keep up the good fishing! and dude, keep your feet inside the yak!!! lol

for my tipe of fishing the 8000 is way to big and heavy, I'm not familiar with california yellowtail but looked like Amberjacks.
I've caught 50lb fish from deep bottom on that reel and performs perfectly fine.. I use 50lb braid on it and you can put 300 yards.

garrett k This guy pulls in a half-eaten tuna, knowing there is a shark in the area, then rinses his bloody hands in the water, catches a small kingfish afterwards and then dangles the thrashing fish above the waterline of the kayak for 15 seconds. I was waiting for the shark to come flying into his lap as it launched into the air to grab the fish!

+KAYAK FISHING ZONE Actually there are a lot more sharks in the gulf and florida than in cali, and the tiger and bull are every bit as nasty as the great whites. It really is something to think about. That and tigers and makos can get damn big as well, bigger than your kayak. I never freaked out surfing in socal, even at night at San O. The gulf is a different beast, just look up shark attack stats. Its mostly florida and I have wondered if that is due to the population in the water in the year longer but most cali surfers have never seen a shark, not the same for most Florida surfers.

Chances of that happening are very slim, could it happen yes. But having grown up on the Gulf, and Atlantic I have never had problems with sharks, and we usually take a few swims during the day, shit we took a swim right next to boca grande a few times, and we are still here. Just can't live in fear.

Tks for your comments, You can transport your kayak on any car as long as you have your roof racks. kayak prices depend on how much you want to spend, you can buy a used good kayak for $600 or you can buy it new from $900 up to $3000.
After you buy your kayak comes gear, depth finder, VHF, Fishbag, etc.
Again all depends how much you want to spend to start. Hope it helps

I personal like to paddle……
it depends a lot in how much money you want to spend, after you buy the kayak, you also going to need a good depth finder combo, battery, and also a lot other stuff… try to fit all this in your budget…
or the other good option if you live in usa, go to craiglist and look for kayaks that are ready set up for offshore, maybe you find a good deal…. good luck

I started with a prowler13 and i was happy with it… this one now the ultra4.3 is really good, faster, more stable more room for gear, so I'm gonna stick with this one for a wile…

no problem.. yes, I start jigging from 130' to 300', depends were the current is going,
I went out today and current was flying north, I hook up to a big bonito and I end it up almost in ft lauderdale.

Gracias por compartirlo Miguel, si aca la variedad es grande nunca sabes lo que viene al funal de la linea hasta que lo subis, es cansador la verdad por que al no pescar anclado te moves muy rapido con la corriente y toca remar mucho, pero cada vez que enganchas uno de esos monstruos que tanto esperastes, se te pasa todo el cansancio,… saludos por alla Miguel

tks for the comments Ghostblack mop, on my jigging rod I use 50lb braid line with an 80lb monofilament leader.

+Ipera78 I've noticed the same. Capt. Bob & I fished out to almost 500 and saw plenty of weed lines to no avail... I got hit twice at about 250. May try Pompano Saturday if the WX holds. Great job as usual!
