Hey Elias, thanks for this vid, been wanting to get a kayak for awhile to fish but always hesitated with storage or where to put it. I'm a dude who lives in an apartment in a busy urban setting, 2nd floor, parking spot (but not covered or a carport), with limited space indoors, where do you keep your kayaks when you lived in the City? I worry about it getting stolen, vandalized or just beat up by the weather too much between fishing sessions. Thanks!

Three Belles Outfitters is a Toy store for Big Kids! That place is awesome! I could (and did) spend hours there just checking out all the cool Hobie stuff. Great staff, very friendly and knowledgeable. Huge selection. Well worth the two hour drive (passing by 3 other Hobie dealers in the process) from Massachusetts.

I wish the Hobie pedal drives were not design to not last. The sprocket that the chain wraps around on my Mirage drive is made of plastic. Did they design it to have the teeth break easily and require replacement quickly? I don't see bicycle sprockets made of plastic. They should be stainless steel!

How durable is the Mirage Drive. My main use would be beach-launching and salt water use. Do the fins break off or just bend when you hit a rock or a sandy bottom?

we have a lot of guys who buy tandem kayaks here because you get more room and options but most only use one seat or on wider boats, they sit on coolers and leave the seat at home. we also have alot of guys who get stuck in PA's in the skinnier water or in the oyster beds. Hobie is great for stability and options but the costs involved are ridiculous. The way guys are getting stuck is that they are peddling in during high tide and barely making it (The paddles underneath) then tides go out and they end up stuck, I have seen it happen 4-5 times in the last month. they end up having to borrow a push stick from one of the other groups or they have to try to paddle that huge kayak back after carrying a paddle all day anyways. Nothing like seeing a guy with a $6000 kayak using a Atwood Emergency paddle to get out.....funny as hell.

Currently have a wilderness Thresher and was going to get the Radar with pedal drive next year but after doing some more research and watching this video I decided to go for the outback, was able to locate a limited edition 2016 and picked it up yesterday. So excited to get it on the water. Just moved from Maine to Tampa so it will get plenty of use. Awesome videos man

Elias/theo- the revo purchased, is it a 2016? 2017? Brand new or "lightly used"? I know TBOs sells a lot of stock that is lightly used. Just curious as I'm going to make a purchase myself and plan to go to TBO in the spring. Oh and I could care less about theo's attire...I'm only interested in the yak!

Nomad-We only have the Rev 16 in a 2017 model and at this time we have in three color combinations, that said we are receiving the missing colors in a few weeks and while we do have a big demo fleet turnover we sell out of those very quickly in the fall. Bob, heads up! The PA's are crazy heavy. With them, unless you go for a sophisticated car-top motorboat hoist system, there will be NO car topping for a PA. I'm in a really big kayak online fishing forum (>4,000 members) and when money is no object, the Hobies are easily the most sought after kayaks, and the general consensus is that the PA's are dream boats...with certain key restrictions.

1) The PA's weigh over 129 pounds stripped/naked! Add ANYTHING at all and the numbers increase very quickly. Try to get around that by keeping all your gear off the boat and you'll have many trips back and forth to the water's edge.
2) You have/use a trailer or pickup with a bed extender
3) You will fish exclusively on waters with ramp or dock access
4) Having a fishing buddy is pretty much a regular thing
5) You won't be facing much wind or wave/chop action
6) You aren't concerned about covering the water with much speed, which also translates to great distances

There is no team with a wife. It is amazing how men do mind blowing mental gymnastics trying to stay on equal foot. If you earn $65000 and she $32000, there is no team....there is the plow horse and her. By time you factor in taxes and college loans, at best she contributes less than what a teenager earns flipping burgers, not to mention medical costs and relentlessly spending money on stuff. And then there is you. Average career woman in usa earns $42000, skip 11% who have a stem job and are usually single in their late 30s. At 42 grand, less deductions, she is contributing less than 22 grand into house, spending half of it on buying gifts for entire family tree, not to mention wardrobe, so 11 grand, less bills and other loans so more like $450/mo on average. Mean the while average career man contributes $2000/mo after deductions. So......who is the team again? tell your wife that you are quitting your job to be a stay at home father or that you want to ditch your job to work non profit and see how quickly she boots you off that team....your entire being can be reduced to size of your wallet, that is what you are worth in her team, and make no mistake....it is HER team, you are just a sponsor.
