I’ve learnt so much just by watching how you do things in the kayak. Thanks a lot bruv for the videos. You keep posting I’ll keep watching.

Very interesting video.  I catch stripers off he southern Oregon coast.  Nice to see the Atlantic fish.  I went to school in Hyde Park, NY 20 years ago and used to study while sitting on the bank of the Hudson River.  Caught a few small stripers there but you couldn't keep anything then.

You really need to use circle hooks with them bass. The 1st 2 you caught probably died.
RikkiTikkiTavi
RikkiTikkiTavi - 8 years ago
+Sea-Money Fishing Thats true. I gut hook fish with circles pretty often too. Oh well. The species looks like its doing fine. Good thing about the ocean is there is no waste.
Sea-Money Fishing
Sea-Money Fishing - 8 years ago
+RikkiTikkiTavi I tried to play it off but you're right, the first 2 were gut hooked and a little bloody. I use circle hooks 90% of the time, only started using J's this fall on these bunker fish, and its totally new to me. Majority of the bass were lip hooked, I will definitely try circles next time but I have plenty of gut hooked bleeders with the circles too, sometimes theres nothing you can do.. I try though haha. I could let them eat it for 10-30 seconds but Id gut hook every one, instead I sacrifice lots of bites trying to set the hook early.

Thats awesome man you should friend me on FB chris mcintee, as I have a hard time keeping up with messages through youtube. You've got a good location there by the bay bridge, there should be some very large stripers in your area at some point in the next few months, maybe even right now! Youve also got warm water discharges that are worth looking into to your north and south which produce trophy sized stripers all winter.

Great videos Sea-Monkey! Been checking out your channel a lot recently. I mainly fish around the Philadelphia area (marsh creek, french creek) and also south jersey. I am trying to venture out of my comfort zone and try new places though. We should meet up sometime and fish. I'm always looking for new fishing partners. I was down at the Capemay ferry last weekend bunker chucking but no luck... to many dogfish and rays around.
Sea-Money Fishing
Sea-Money Fishing - 8 years ago
haha I have caught a couple 30"-35" ski's at marsh but I usually get skunked and have yet to get anything big. The first video I posted here on youtube was a 41" tiger my buddy got there while ice fishing, you should check it out, my first upload haha. As far as surf/ocean kayaking goes, I def wouldn't do it alone, at least not this time of year. I always go with a buddy. I dont know when Ill be back at it but maybe this sunday....
Colton C
Colton C - 8 years ago
+Sea-Money Fishing Yeah I hope the striper stay in south jersey for a few more weeks. I think I might take my yak down on the 26th if the reports are still good down there and I can get someone to go with me (little risky going out in the ocean alone). From reports I have read this week seems most of the action is south of Sea Isle to Cape may. Yeah biggest musky for me so far, measured 45 inches on the dot. The fish of 10,000 cast was pretty accurate lol.

+Colton Cooper Chunking Bass from the beach in the fall is a grueling task of picking through skates/dogs, getting skunked, being cold wet and smelly, but every now and then the fish gods throw you a big one. I have never caught a fish on a chunk from the beach, but I still have hope that we might get a shot at them here in the 2nd half of December. I also fish Marsh/ French Creek, usually in the winter through the ice, let me know if you're headed out Ill see if Im free. I see that musky in your prof pic, marsh creek musky? its big!

I've also used a fish grip.
Sea-Money Fishing
Sea-Money Fishing - 8 years ago
+Bao Nguyen Try a cheap mesh laundry bag from walmart, or if a bigger fish, just string them and take it easy on the paddling and they'll live for awhile.

Here in San Francisco the biggest bass I've ever caught was 8 pounds and the biggest I've heard of was 43 inches you guys have it good
BenZ Fishing
BenZ Fishing - 8 years ago
+Sea-Money Fishing I would think so the state record is 67 pounds I think but too many people keep bass out here :/ thanks for the replies!

18" size limit is rough. damn. I wonder if those pacific fish would attain the sizes they do here on the east coast if they were better regulated. Appreciate the support anyways, tightlines to you!
BenZ Fishing
BenZ Fishing - 8 years ago
+Sea-Money Fishing I know we have a non native population I'm pretty sure the size difference comes from everyone over here keeping limits no catch and release out here it's sad. We have an 18 inch size limit there is barely any meat on those fish. From what I've heard bass is the best it's been on the west coast in 10 years! Haha tight lines my man your videos are great!
Sea-Money Fishing
Sea-Money Fishing - 8 years ago
+BenZ Fishing We have the native population, that west coast population came from us! haha. I think its real cool you guys have stripers out there, would love to try it some time.

When you throw out "The Chunk", do you let it hit the bottom and turn off the free spool?
Sea-Money Fishing
Sea-Money Fishing - 8 years ago
Yep let it sit on the bottom, I keep the reel engaged/locked/winched and let the fish set the hook themselves, it's very effective and also helps in hooking the fish fairly in the lips opposed to the gut.

Hey on the scale of a 20 lb redfish and a 20lb striped bass, who fights harder. Because i have never caught a striped bass and i was wondering. Im 13 and trying to catch as many fish types befoe i can. Im going to give all my rods and reels away fo my cousins charity for kids with spinabiphida and i was wondering if one fights harder than the other Thanks

+Connor Perriey I would say reds make better runs. Harder to pull them to you as well. They have that big head that lets them hold water easier.

+Gigabyte Its a hobie revolution 13. It has that mirage pedal drive as you see, its not cheap, but is by far the best for fishing. Jackson makes a kayak with a similar pedal drive, both are superior to any other kayak, highly recommend you go hobie/Jackson if you can afford it.
