Here's footage from the show where we ran the pulsejet-powered kayak down a runway and then raced it against an Olympic rower. Remember -- this *is* television, not real life (if you get my drift). Still, it was great fun and I quite enjoy doing pulsejet stuff like this for TV programs.

No, it's the jet thrust... just look at the effect of a pulsejet on water in this video from 4:15 onwards On the set of Junkyard Megawars (Part 2) - the Pulsejet boat
Looked like a fun project. Bet the USCG would never approve that one! Well, unless ya got a big corporation to get the rulebook tweeked, aka, the Jet Ski, in the '70's.
Wonder how it would do against Mokai, Surfango, or our own Lean 'N' Steer powered kayak? In our case, we could run the race on just a few ounces of fuel. Something tells me it would take well over 20 pounds of fuel to go five miles with this pulsejet.
The engine sound reminds me of a German V1 engine, which it is!
Cute experiment.

At high speeds, aiming the intake forward can also be detrimental to performance in the sense that the ram pressure can disrupt the combustion cycle.
