I second the numerous comments about involving your children in the hobby. I really enjoy that! ALSO... I can't wait until aquascaping becomes more popular in the US. I wish I had known about dwarf pufferfish before pest snails cleared my fish tank of any plant life. Do they behave well with cherry reds? You mentioned you'd put some in there.

+Deborah Wilson Brackish is very tricky for plants. You could try Java fern and Vallis but it's doubtful they'd thrive long term

It's so nice to see children take an interest in the hobby. I got a dennerle shrimp net today and the quality is fantastic, I particularly like the fact it's telescopic as I have to sit down when I maintain my tank so that extra reach is perfect. I just wish they did some scissors the same length!

George Liston I've tried cherry shrimp with puffers and they all ended up as dinner, amano shrimp on the other hand are bigger than the puffers and get ignored.

Can you please give some more info about aquarium dimensions, light and the size of the filter. Also noticed you're using sharp tweezers, are they easier for planting then a more rounded dull ones?
