Yes you do, for optimum plant growth and health, CO2 is definitely required.

I was surprised to see how vigorously you cleaned your tank. Over the decades I was always so careful to go slow and not scare the fish or uproot the plants. Guess I was just being super cautious! Thanks again for your postings.

there are over 40 species, too many to remember and too many to list, if you are curious about a particular one, you may ask me about it and i will tell you what it is. The main plants are anubias, narrow leaf java fern, and marsilea for the carpet

What is in the syringe at the beginning that you are using to clean the rocks? Hydrogen Peroxide? Can you spray your solution on plant leaves as well?

I'm pretty inexperienced, compared with this especially, but my impulse would be to stuff as many animals [and as many different kinds of animals] as I could in there without them killing each other. I'm limited to a 5 gallon right now with a few shrimp and a betta, with plants.

It depends on the personality of the betta. I've had 3 over the years that ignored the shrimp, and one that ate them.

I feel the driftwood is getting muted in the aquascape as it's drowned in plants, but that's only as I watched the build video first and saw the beautiful pieces of hardscape you chose :]

What's the H2O2 solution - 3 or 6%? How much and how often are you using it (it could kill the fish and invertebrates)?

+tyczekp its 3% h2o2 and I use no more than 20ml per 50 gallons at a time. I only use it every now and then when i see that algae is getting out of control.

I usually wait until the end of the day to do the water change so that the ferts for that day have been in the tank a long time before i change the water, and i just wait til the next day to dose again

Do the Cory Cants uproot your carpet much? I have 11 in a 55 gal with a S. Repens carpet and they uproot some here and there.
