Si consiglia di inserirlo in vasche coperte perchè potrebbe uscire. le uniche differenze tra maschio e femmine sono che i maschi presentano un corpo più grande e degli uncini sulle zampe anteriori utilizzati per aggrapparsi durante l accoppiamento. l accoppiamento non è molto facile in acquari di casa ma si consiglia di alzare la temperatura intorno ai 26 gradi, il periodo di gestazione sarà intorno ai 20/30 giorni. E' un animale onnivoro e mangia microparticelle che trova in acqua, quindi è sconsigliato dare cibo, al massimo possiamo fornirgli napulii di artemia.
