I lived in Santa Monica for 2 years and loved visiting this store. Even though I didn't have a fish tank at that time. Wish there was something like it here where I moved up the coast.

hey Jacob, I have a question on hygrophilia pinnatifida. they were doing great for probably a few months. crazy growth, then one day, all of a sudden leaves started melting off. I am dosing the same stuff. co2 and ferts. the most change i remember I did was feeding the fishes more but that's only for a few days or another that I can think of was using hydrogen peroxide on it's leaves during a water change to kill off some algae. please help. I thought I was so I g really good but I dunno what happened. I'm expecting it to recover but I am not quite sure.

I very much enjoyed this planted tank porn LOL. I did see something interesting in the video. A sponge filter attached to a hang on the back filter. That has given me something to think about for my next tank. I never even thought that was possible. Thankyou for another great video.

That half tank is a vivarium. Not necessarily a paludarium. Vivariums are tanks/areas/enclosures which mimic a "place of life", literally from Latin. There are different types of vivariums and depending on what type of area they represent they may be a paludarium (swamp or marsh), riparium (river or stream), etc. A terrarium means an earth place, like a jungle, desert, etc. Purely land. Aquarium is purely water. All are vivariums, not all are paludariums or ripariums.

Beautiful store, beautiful setups, so relaxing, but it makes me wonder, where are their plants they sell? There is no way they rip the plants out of those beautiful aquascapes to sell.

The 2nd Erio plant is labeled wrong. Its Erio Vietnam btw and you can get them for ~$4-5/each online.

I would actually say that the half and half tank is considered in that picture to be more of a riparium vs a paludarium, since all plants that occupy that space are marginal plants, or moss. Paludariums include fully terrestrial plants.

Vivarium actually. A riparium would mimic a stream or riverbank. Paludarium would be a swamp or marsh. Vivarium is a more loose term that's all encompassing when a specific "area" isn't being replicated.

The Latin root palus means swamp or marsh. A paludarium is a vivarium that mimics a swamp or a marsh.
