i've been watching a lot of these planted aquariums and got really interested in making my own.
however, when i went to our best fish shop in town (and probably the only one) they told me that to keep the plants healthy and to give it the longest life-span it would require some kind of a liquid fertiliser. i haven't seen it in any planted aquarium videos where they put that, is it actually a thing and needed?
if anyone can help i would really appreciate it :)

That brings me to my problem...
The lights on my aquarium have given up the ghost and so I am looking for a DIY solution, either that or get a new tank as the off-the-shelf solutions are either not right or too expensive. I have been looking to use those LED floodlights but have concerns about the amount of heat they generate. I know LED do not generate that much heat (depending on LED types) but they do produce some. My tank is probably three times the depth of the tank in this video. Hence I would look to get bigger lights which of course generate even more heat. Are you able to give advice on how much heat these do generate compared to a standard florescent tube light. i don't want the hud of my tank to start melting.
Also, I would love to see a DIY project which utilised the heat generated from a light source to heat up passing water and reducing the use of the dedicated heater.
and you like it, and have fun doing it.
great videos , big fan.
This sort of simple and non-costly approach to planted aquariums should really help sway those that are too intimidated to try, or don't want to invest in costly equipment. I can't wait to see you try your hand at some iwagami style aquascapes ;)
Just use garden soil(organic)
Do you use an external dc reg if yes what brand is the best?

he made them. Try searching his channel for "diy planted aquarium light"
This nano project you've completed is amazing. I don't do CO2 and I really think it makes a difference in the speed of plant growth in this build and set up. My plants grow much more slowly.
Also, when I add animals (shrimp and some algae thriving species along with potential neon tetras) do I need to have the co2 running still? Or do I shift to air stones?
I really hope you see/reply to this, and I look forward to reading your response.
As always, beautiful work. Keep it up bud
Thank you.
Could be the camera.
