Hey I was wondering how you get into this kind of work? Even though I am sure my heart eventually will change since I am young for a fulltime job, but right now I want to do something that involves fish. How'd you get paid to design fish tanks, and any more ideas on pet related jobs? Btw, love your work.

Im thinking about sealing all the doors and widows of my home and covering the inside with pound liner, then filling it up with water and living in there, would this be possible? how long would i survive and would the walls of the house support so much water with out exploding and flooding the whole street

The aquascape is quite unnature and uninventive. Great clean installation job, but aquascaping was pretty bad.

i dont see how insulating the cooler increased its cooling capacity. that sounds hazardous and against basic principles. did you you do an efficiency test before and after to be sure that was actually an improvement?

What rock do you use? Is it lava rock? We got a rock supplier with lava rock and it looks like nice reef rock! Only $0.40/ Pound!

@AweSomo84 by "run up" do you mean cycle? Yes, it should be cycled first. The shots with the fish in them were taken about two months after the installation- once the aquarium had cycled. As far as liverock: the short answer is cost, size, and design. Wet/dry filters accomplish the same biological affect and the lace rock we use is only pennies per pound...as opposed to several dollars.

@btonben23 they are the Coralife T5 Fixtures. 2) 24" with white and blue bulbs. very affortable, very bright and very low wattage...which means very little algae!

@taedom We just finished installing a 400 gallon BEAUTIFUL SPS coral reef aquarium in San Diego. We've got all the video- just need to find the time to edit it. I'll keep you posted!

@awinski999 For years, TidelineUSA sold this type of sand. Lately, they have been out of stock so we get it through our regular distributor. It comes in various sizes, and is clean right out of the bag. Its great!

hi i was wondering what kind of sand this is. because i know when you guys put in the water it doesnt look murky at all. do you buy your sand this way or clean it and let it dry?
