Layout 74 by Tropica

Symphony of light green Eleocharis parvula, Hottonia and Nymphoides with Microsorum 'Trident' and small stones with Spiky moss as a deep green contrast. The close, deep green wall of moss makes the overall impression soft and fertile, and it's actually not so hard to do (see video). The wall of moss also works as a "filter" inside the aquarium, since the quick growth of the moss soaks up nutrition from the water and thereby avoids algal growth. We recommend using moss directly from the lab, in order to avoid algae intake with the moss from the beginning. See more at http://tropica.com/en/inspiration/layout/Layout74/5278

Can you explain me how a tank with the dimensions of 60 x 35 x 40 is 100L?
Because if you calculate 6 x 3.5 x 4 it comes out 84L bruto, so around the 78/80L is you keep the gravel/ornaments in mind.

Tropica Aquarium Plants
Tropica Aquarium Plants - 8 years ago
+I'm very very good As you can see on the Layout details here (http://tropica.com/en/inspiration/layout/Layout74/5278), we added some CO2 for this tank. But the plants used in this tank are "Easy" category, which means that they can grow without CO2 addition, but the growth will be slower.
We recommend use of CO2 in all planted tanks - easy-medium-advanced categories - and we mostly add CO2 to all our showtanks in order to get them ready and as beautiful as possible for "showtime", which is often a show or a fair.

Do you ever turn off the light during night time? Just asking thankyou
Tropica Aquarium Plants
Tropica Aquarium Plants - 9 years ago
+Emerlie David Yes, it is important that light is switched off after 6-8 hours. You can add a timer to do this for you automatically. If you leave the light on for more than 8hrs/day, it gives an advantage to the algae which may spread. The plants need to "rest" like they would rest at night in the nature.

1ST, Anyone who thinks that moss grew In one day is stupid as shit. 2ND, That was regular java moss/stringy moss. When grown out it was Xmas moss. So stfu
WoundrousMindTrick
WoundrousMindTrick - 7 years ago
It wasn't java moss in the beginning at it wasn't Xmas moss grown out. It was Taxiphyllum 'Spiky' the whole time. A moss I recommend any beginner use instead of java moss. Just make sure not keep water below 25C and keep trimming it, otherwise the lower light depraved parts will detach itself from whatever you tied/glued it on.

We all do have our own methods of doing things. We watch such videos to get ideas not totally follow step by step. We only share one thing in common its just we all love our aquatic friends. Whatever it is you have in mind keep it to yourself or share your own video. Youll know how it feels to be treated by your own kind..in order certain task is accomplished we have to work together. You dont have to be rude as if youve never done previous mistakes.

Putting java moss on a wall is fucking annoyingly hard lol but I mamaged, metal grid is better then plastic cause the platic will bend and cannot achieve tightness as metal can when putting pressure on the fishing line which prevents bending

Chapalap
Chapalap - 10 years ago
I dont see how all you people are being so negative? I totally agree this is after one day, the days i trim my moss and clean up by the next morning it literally has doubled, this is with over 2 watts per gallon at 6000k dosing ferts, CO2 and using shit fluval plant stratum and no undergravel ferts..  with that being said, the growth looks a little extreme but who know they could have added more to get more effect.. You people who have shit tanks on low budgets and no experience have no right to call this bullshit because you dont know, I personally know and have experienced how fast moss of any kind can grow and it is extreme. If i miss any trimmings at all i find out how by looking a day or two later and finding a ball of it growing behind a rock and i just say, ah yes, Thats where it got away to.. Do it yourself and find out for yourself before calling bs. You might just be surprised

DirtKnapp
DirtKnapp - 11 years ago
If lighting conditions, ferts and CO2 are present, it can absolutely grow that fast. Tnd these guys are pros so they know how to implement the principles required for optimum growth. I purchased some sub star grass a week ago and it doubled in quantity in two days, I was able to propagate it and increase by "lawn" substantially on my next water change. I agree, some incredible concepts on this channel,

Nicely done. What were those white mats you used at the beginning under the hardscape. It looked like styrofoam. Is their only purpose to prevent scratching/cracking the bottom glass? Can you tell me what the material of the grid you used for the moss? It appears they are very rigid and metallic? II presume styrofoam and metal materials are best avoided in a tank, so I assume they are made from something else. Thanks for all your inspiring videos!

Hey I have a question. I was wondering if you thought 1 T5 6500k 24watt bulb would be enough for a 10 gallon with Eleocharis parvula. I also plan to use a liquid carbon to hold back algae and osmocote+ in the substrate. What do you guys think of that set up?
