Great tank, but next time you tip water out of a glass box next to your child, maybe best not to promote them to jump in the water, or at least move the glass tank first :)

Hey thanks! It def. came in handy. I also like that if I disassembed the tank, the gravel wouldn't be mixed in with the ADA substrate

what about ADA power sand & super 4.. you used or not?

No, never used. I have only used Eco-complete as my substrate, this is my first ADA product. I know they have a lot of variety with different layers and mineral mixtures, but I didn't want to over-complicate my first serious planted tank

It is manzanita. I got it with the bark still on it, it wasn't all nice and sandblasted. Maybe that had something to do with it

if i could give you some advice and plants, always trim the roots of the plants, this will promote the growth of newer and stronger roots. the roots that are above the soil in your vid wil die off anyway.
Also i noticed u stil had lead on your anubias, that is not very healthy in a long run for your fish, remove it and glue/bind it on wood or stone.

Awesome, I think I already should do a trimming to my stargrass and lobelia cardinalis, I had it die back but then it started doing great

Ah good to hear its lead free, those anubias thrive best attached on wood or rock.
wil be waiting to see the end results.
for every plants its best to trim roots before planting and after 3-4 weeks when growth has set in to start trimming leaves and stems to promote sideway growth, this way you can create plants that look densly packed with leaves and stems and with slow down the upwards growth (plants grow towards light).

Oh interesting about the root trimming, noted. I am using some metal strips to hold a few plants down, but I got the lead-free ones! I still have plans to attach to some rocks though for a better aesthetic

Oh lucky! I've been struggling with the hinged glass tops on a couple of my tanks. Darn things keep falling in when I move something! I'm excited to see your wilds! I miss keeping them. I've had Picta, Foerschi, Pallifina and Macrostoma.

I have a local glass shop I'm going to get a few pieces cut and make my own. I def. need one, my wild bettas that are going in are great jumpers! I just put them in recently and am using taped-down saran wrap as a lid, haha.Sometimes I hear them hit it.

I've heard that Monte Carlo is pretty demanding, will you use co2 in that tank, or does Monte Carlo just profit from it and not really need it?

I've been supplementing co2 to give the tank a boost and it looks like it is perking up. If I do plan on lowering the light and going low tech, I'll probably remove it and try another plant.

Oh geeze, I thought I covered that up. My adorable little angel toddler threw my phone at me and decked me riiiight in the eye. She is lucky she is so cute, for a few weeks I got to look like I was in a street fight

I like the Finnex 24/7 Planted +. That's what I have on my planted tank. My Anubias and Crypts have been growing like crazy under that light. I'll be interested to see how the Crypt Parva "mini" works out. I've never had that before. Poor Phoebe!

I am liking it a lot so far! The timer function is neat, I like how the lighting intensity changes throughout the day. Hope all my plants like it. I'm injecting co2 for now to give the plants a boost, but eventually will phase to a low tech tank

I just set up my tank and put 6 fish inside. I thought i got all salt and pepper corydoras but i only got 1 of them the rest were some kind of catfish that kind of looks like a pleco but is only an inch long. It has long stiff and barbed side fins and a sail like a pleco it even has a mouth like a pleco but it is really small and very hard to see though so idk if it is a pleco. And i also got poked by my corydora. I wanted to get a betta but all the betta there don't look stunning and all looked half dead. Anyways anyone know what that fish i was talking about is?
