You should sell it in higher resolution version. I have been buying lots of 4K content. 1080 would be ok. Like it otherwise.

Amazing video!!! Thank you so much for doing this, I’m so glad this content is out there. Two critiques I’ve learned from my own small audience: avoid fancy transitions as they’re distracting and avoid music during talking parts. But again, fabulous video! You have a new subscriber :)

Not to be too much the pessimist, but the footage you have recorded may well represent THE LAST remaining intact, pristine freshwater ecosystem examples on the planet. That being noted, you and your production staff are truly pioneers in the freshwater aquatic world. Thanks for all you have contributed.
Finnboem
Finnboem - 7 years ago
Jake Scot this is indeed true and truly sad. I never see any big conservation “companies” say anything about it. Only the Aquarium Industry talks about it, and even that is minimal. I really hope we can atleast save some of them because our aquariums aren’t the most stable too.

Awesome video! Seeing such a beautiful natural aquarium, I'm hoping people will understand how important it is to not litter. We must take care of our water ways and the wildlife in them. In turn, they will take care of us. If we don't, then we are doomed. It's so sad about the diamond tetras. They are so beautiful. One of my favorite tetras.
PalJoey1957
PalJoey1957 - 7 years ago
Beautiful, Ivan.

1) Those Diamond Tetras; we used to see them commonly in pet stores in the sixties and seventies.
2) What is the name of the red lined tetra species at 8:34? At 15:06 there is a tetra identified as Moenkhausia collettii that has similar coloring, but less red in the body, and body shape. Is it the same fish?
3) Likewise, the name of the Pristella sp. at 34:45. They are so much more intensely colored than the washed out ones we see in the shops here.
4) Have you ever thought of raising and re-populating some of the endangered species like the Altums and the Diamonds? Or overseeing such an operation in your country? Some students perhaps? Or an exporter who would restock half of the raised stock in the rivers?
Hope to hear from you.

I wonder how many millions of years did it take before fish gills
could extract oxygen from water successfully?
And how did they get along while the gills were still, well not quite gills yet?

Or what came first, a male fish or a female fish?
If a male came first, for what reason was it a male?
There are no females around.
If a female came first, for what was it a female?
There are no males around.

If a male came first, how many millions of years did it take before a female came...?
and how did the males last all those years without females?

I would love to see more - having watched every video you've published including all those with George Fear, I am always interested to see more! Andrew bowlgarte

jeviam , a scientific name is the the name , a common name can change depending on who is selling it , or where you are but the Latin is always the same , and with alot of non common fish there is only a scientific name

WTF? 7:01, thats not Riccia Fluitans, thats Eichhornia crassipes commonly known as Water Hyacinth.  Riccia Fluitans is a floating moss like plant, basic information that any freshwater planted tank owner would know.  And any pond owner would know that that's water hyacinth.  No wonder it has dislikes.  What an unreliable documentary.

Emporer (sp) tetras are one of my favorites!  I had a few that lived about 5 years, and bleeding heart tetras.  I worked at a store that sold fish when I was in college, I have my degree in Animal science. Your documentaries rock. I wish I was rich enough to send you money for this. I'm not. But you deserve to be supported if there is any economic want in your life. You are creating an education tool of the highest quality in your work, much higher quality than most any others I've seen in any language. You inspire biophilia, which is among the most necessary things to do in these very precarious times.

I enjoyed your video a lot. As an avid aquarium hobbyist and someone very excited about the natural habitat, I cannot think of a better made documentary. You have done truly great work! I spent a few weeks in Iquitos and never was able to see too many fish. You make me long to return.

From all of the comments, I gather that this is a fantastic, stunning visual feast, and I'll save it for later, but I must say that I am disappointed at being mislead by the title. I expected a documentary on freshwater aquariums, not a documentary on the natural habitat of popular aquarium species :/
