I caught my personal best two weeks ago night fishing under The Dames Point Bridge in Jacksonville Florida, in the main channel facing the north bank of Quarantine Island. How's that for sharing my spot???... 44" red drum on a Top Dog Mirrolure at 3am in 2 feet of water (actually in about 6' of water on either side of a submerged jetty.... but the top of that jetty was only a foot or two under water), on a 6' medium heavy Ugly Stick, 20 lbs braid Berkley Fireline, Penn Battle 3000.... Out of a 12' Sun Dolphin Pro 120 with a 9.9 Mercury and 30 lbs trolling motor. I have no idea what he weighted because my Bogga Grip only goes to 30 lbs....
About a 5 minute fight that seemed like 10. Released after a picture lying on the floor of the boat with my 42" measuring stick next to him.
It was an odd catch because reds that big don't usually hit artificial. I was targeting trout. I caught a 5 lbs trout that night and 3 others about 18 inches. Fishing in Florida is GREAT ! ! !
I work nights and sleep days. So now I only fish at night. It's EXACTLY the same as days. Some good nights, some bad, some "so so"..... Just like days. But ZERO other fisherman and ZERO sun. Now I love night fishing.

I live at ponce inlet the bull reds are mean and fat getting over 50 inches and so much girth , I seen one caught by a friend 60 inches and heard of others in the low 60 inch class , if I could choose one bait it would be the white grunts that make that grunting noise they seem to have a life span of no more than 15 minutes .

Sad to see people releasing fish in such an irresponsible way. Please take the time to educate them on taking 10sec to lower them back down in the basket vs collapsing their lungs from >30ft after they are exhausted. You realize that sometimes to stock a lake, fish are released from moving airplanes right? The momentum of being dropped nose first into the water can actually help the fish not over-inflate its swim bladder, which would cause it to be stuck near the surface. Dropping fish that come from deeper water actually gives them their best chance. I would absolutely love to hear where you get the figure that they are killing almost 100%. Just because it makes you uncomfortable, doesn't mean the fish have any ill effects from it.
