It would look good with some variety of invertebrates (violinist crabs, red clawed crabs, prawn shrimp, etc, but crabs should be kept in brackish water, don't worry, crayfish, prawn shrimp, and crabs can live in brackish water, just make sure not to put a blue mud crab, those are very agressive and will eat the tankmates)

You need to add soup cans to the pond so that the poor bugs can claim a home. Otherwise, they'll attack each and they'll die while molting. In order to get big, they shed their shell every few weeks and if they don't have a place to hide while they develop a hard shell, they become food for all the other crayfish. You will also need to add chicken egg shells so that they can obtain the calcium they need to make new shells or they will die. You can feed them both vegetables and meats as they are omnivores. Whatever you feed them needs to be weighed down with a rock or something so that they can crawl to it. You can add live breeding mollies, etc.. with them and they'll predate on the fish. In order to breed them, you need to allow the bottom of the pond to develop a detritous layer that can support small aquatic life that the baby crayfish can eat. Plus you need little rocks and plants so the baby crayfish can hide from the parents as they are cannibalistic.

Mating behavior is pretty funny but alarming to watch. The male will catch a female, flip her onto her back, get on top of her and hold her claws out with his and will deposit his sperm onto her abdomen. It will look like a cloudy cottonball. The female will hold onto this cache under her tail until she is ready to drop her eggs. She will mix her eggs with the sperm and then hold onto the fertilized eggs under her tail. It will look like she has a strawberry and indeed she will be called "berried". As the eggs develop she will hold onto them and even when the babies hatch they will be held by their mommy until she finds a safe little hidey hole where she'll release them. A "berry" can consist of over 100 babies. Most will not survive as the bigger ones will eat the smallest and if there isn't enough calcium in the water, the babies will soon die due to lack of shell material.
