No kidding, me and my friend heard a rustling sound from a bush right next to this pipe we fish on. We kept poking what we thought was a rock (we don't have plecos in illinois) and then it moved a little bit. It was as dry as a desert and we honestly thought it had been there for weeks or even months.

We took it to my friends backyard and placed it into his plastic pond about a foot deep (if that) and the next day it was gone 0.0

I honestly think that thing crawled out.

I used to go hunting for these for my tanks when I was a kid in Venezuela. Plecos in their natural environment never reached the sizes we find in Florida and Texas now. Unheard of. Natives throw them whole on hot embers, crack them open and eat out of the exoskeleton like an urchin. Most have yellow meat and seem to taste good enough.
