Most of the fish that you put in there will need a much bigger tank. They literally come from a pond. You will also need to acclimate then to the water parameters before adding them into the tank.

I think the beginning of this video eludes to what happened. When he's sweeping before he puts the tarp down. He says you have to make sure there's nothing under the pool so if you scrubbing the bottom you won't tear a hole and lose all your water. That could have been what happened and then he cooked up the story about the vandals.

JR Hurst I don’t think so. The hose he uses goes straight to his house and most likely his tap. Even if it is pond water however, he didn’t give it any time to establish. Without the filter being full of bacteria, the water in the pond will be quickly overrun.
