+Maverick Tide sorry to hear that! Maybe in the future you can get a little 10g going. I too had to break down my 75G SW tank when I moved from CA to TX, but kept the tank only and went back to African cichlid peacocks FW and brought my 24g nanocube empty (which broke on the way here and that's why I ended up with a 28g nanocube). I hope to see you with a tank again. A fusion 10g (one of my other tanks) is only $100.

I suspect a lack of calcium or a not quite high enough dKH level caused the clam to die and your skunk cleaner was just eating off his remains. Cleaner shrimp would probably never begin feeding on a clam to compensate for malnutrition. It would have died before even taking a shot at the clam while it was still living.

Sure, in this hobby you never always know. Especially when the seemingly unavoidable incident pops up while on travel. Regardless, sorry to here about the clam. They're spectacular inhabitants to keep have in your tank!

+Joshua Limaye maybe your right. Its just i maintained the same water parameters every month and the clam did great. The only thing that changed when i was away was the person who was feeding the fish and shrimp probable didn't put enough food in, causing me to believe the theory of the shrimp getting a little hungry. But who knows...

+808animalguy freshwater no. saltwater yes. It helps kick up all the crap thats chilling at the bottom of the tank and suspends it into the water column then into the filter intake it goes.

Clams are very sensitive and when it died, probably because something went wrong, it made the water even worse. The shrimp did it's job which is eating excess food and waste, dying clam = yummy waste. But sorry for your loss, it was beautiful.
