Like others have said use chemipure blue in your filter paired with polyfilter. Your water will be clear as can be and will have a nice healthy tank. Pull the water out every week, I do about 30% changes. I noticed this has been about a year how is this tank doing?

Yo, bud! Nice job! However, as a 40 year marine veteran, I have a couple of tips for ya. Ditch the carbon and replace with a phosphate sponge like ChemiPure Elite (which lasts for three months) and you won't have to combat algae when your rocks start growing tiny corals, etc. Also, in my 10g reef, since we aren't skimming proteins away they will accumulate on the surface (sometimes you'll see it, looks like an oil spill) which will aggravate gas exchange. So when you change water, use a cup and take the water from the surface, reducing these dissolved organics. And it's never too early to introduce your clean up crew (astrea snails, turbos, emerald crab, hermits, cerrith snails which are totally cool because they're sand diggers helping to release gases from the sand and you can watch their little periscopes move across the sand while they're under it). Best of luck! You sound like a conscientious steward and you're so right about over-crowding or death-wishing inappropriate specimens.

+Dodge Andersen No offense, but your anemones don't rely too much on lighting but it does make them look better. For best results, hand feed (with tongs or whatever) tiny pieces of uncooked fish or other seafood to the anemones. It's also fun to use a hose and blow live brine shrimp onto filter feeders and anemones. So cool. Hatching and harvesting brine shrimp are cheap, easy tasks while providing live proteins.

Hey, Dodge, you have got a pretty neat setup there. I too have set up a 10g saltwater tank, I did not yet buy the LED's. With so many options available online, it is so hard for me to decide. I did like your LED setup. It is very sleek. I just wanted to check with you if that supports coral growth. If yes, could you help me with the company name or a link where I can buy it? Thanks.

+Meshach Simon I actually sent it back to the person I bought it from. There was no way to use it with a timer (which they claimed it did) so I requested a refund and they accepted it back.

+Meshach Simon Sorry for the late reply! I highly suggest the current orbit LED systems they have out. I have that now and it is the bomb! It has fully adjustable timers that you can set up so you never have to worry about it! And my corals do great with it!
