Just wondering exactly what that light fixture is called? Looking for one for my 10 gallon reef tank but all I can seem to find is a single bulb fixture from petco :( not ideal

add mushrooms or polyps. These are specifically very hardy and easy to take care of corals.

Be careful with bumblebee snails though. If not provided with enough food, they may eat zoanthids. Good luck!

When I set up my nano tank I was staring at it for hours too, although there wasn't anything in it. And it does get addicting FOR SURE! My tank's about 7 months now and getting loaded with corals. I love the hobby, its amazing. So much to learn! :D Great start though :) Nice scape too

Why does everyone call them false perculas? The ocellaris clownfish and percula clownfish are two different sub species. It's not like we call dogs 'false wolves'. They're dogs, but still canine. It's also kinda condescending to the ocellaris, saying they're not "true clownfish", just a fake copy of less worth. Thumbs up if anyone else gets annoyed by this common name mix up. PS: Love the tank, great start, and cute clowns :P Keep up the great work!

you dont need the carbon man, i just use bio solid balls or a sponge thats it as long as you have good live rock you should be fine.

@bayoteugene9 I didnt for the 10 gallon..but I do for my 20 gallon. Its an Aquatic Life Mini 115 Protein Skimmer. Does the job and wont cost an arm and a leg. I would say there not neccasary for a 10 gallon as long as your doing your weekly water changes.

@lilserb123 This was actually when i first started saltwater..i now also have a 20 gallon long.and like everyone else i have had my share of algae blooms..but i also have a phosphate reactor that IMO dramitcally decreases algae..plus i also have a refugium that keeps algae blooms at minimum.

@WWpictures100 I spend about 5-10mins a day on average...I do awater change every week and I clean various pumps and skimmers in a rotation. so i spend about 45 mins to an hour the one day I do the water change..but it really could be done in 10 mins without cleaning anything and just doing the wc. Dont get it twisted though dude...it can be challenging at times especially with coral but thats part of the game...however the rewards far outweigh those challenges and your mistakes will

@dimepiecereef One last question Im trying to get this from the view of someone who doesnt work at a fish store Now how long does it take to maintian you aquarium on average? Is it very hard? I aways hear hard impossible .ect but im hearing this from people who failed to succeed in this hobby
Noah P
Noah P - 12 years ago
@WWpictures100 Yea my goal is too have at least a 125 gallon...but Im years away from that dream. I would def get at least a 20 long... and keep in mind if u get a 30 ur light will have to be pretty strong to get to the coral on the sand bed...a 20 long is just as long as a 30 it's just not as high.

Noah P
Noah P - 12 years ago
@WWpictures100 I no longer have this tank..but yeah the filter was def rated for way more than 10 gallons.I believe it could handle up to 30 gallons....if I were u I would look into getting a 20 gallon long..it will cost u almost as much as a 10 gallon and u will have more options.Trust me if ur serious about saltwater ur gonna wanna go bigger. Thanks for viewing!

You can check craigslist. Theres always people breaking down theyre tanks where you can usually get good deals on live rock. Myself personally would just go to a reputable lfs for live rock.

sup man , what i think u need that wood help out your snails is some sea weed or mabe even sum sea grasss.
xCeeJOHN
xCeeJOHN - 13 years ago
you dont have to listen to me. but here is my advice. if your going to keep that chaeto, keep it in a sump or something like that. i had chaeto and stuck it in my main tank like you, and that thing grew liek crazy and started shedding all over the tank because it got blown everywhere my my current. its going to make your tank all messy. ever since i took it out, my tank looks really clean. but every aquarist has their own views.

Noah P
Noah P - 13 years ago
@ArcaniteVida 200GPH. It's the C series. I would explore all your options before you jump. I shortly will be moving everything to a 20 long with a sump system. More gallons=more stable water parameters...plus your gonna want to go bigger eventually. A 20 gallon would basically cost you the same funds as a 10 so why not go bigger?
