spike swmingbird Haha, $5,000 is EXACTLY what I was going to say. I have a tank about that size and I've spent at least 5k by this point.

spike swmingbird I haven't kept track too well... but, too much. haha maybe I will make video about it some day. But for the equipment, probably around $2000. Corals and livestock, $2000. Salt, two part dosing, other chemicals probably $1000. It took a long time to accumulate everything.

+Clyde Macasero For the most part, I let stuff grow until I notice there is one one coral taking over another. I try to give enough space in between corals. The big thing in my tank is trimming the pulsing xenia, kenyan trees, and some polyps around my pink Monti.

Every month or two I cut out pulsing xenia. I trim and remove the other coral as necessary. I have broke a lot of the green birdsnest out to give the green Monti more light. A few weeks ago I broke my frogspawn apart, much smaller now (still pretty big), and now I have 30 or so frogspawn heads laying along the sides of my tank.

I do 15 gallon water changes once or twice a month. I clean out my sump every month or two (clean the glass, and siphon/pull out by hand whatever is in there). I dose B-Ionic alk/Ca every 6 hours with a dosing pump. My protein skimmer and bio-pellet reactor do a lot of work also.

The frogspawn is amazing! My hammer has grown a grand total of ZERO heads in 18 months...Looks healthy and colorful but no growth. Got new lights so they might help over the next while

I was thinking about getting a hammer if I end up trading in a good amount of the frogspawn. I got one head of my frogspawn three and a half years ago, and now it is 100+ with lots of baby heads growing on each head. Maybe hammers grow slower, at least it is healthy. Happy reefing! :)
