Actually coral banded are great too, my are never bother fish and a funny thing is she try to clean my fish ( which people are has reported that they cannot cleam fish) and sea urchin can knock a coral frag like bulldozer and pick them up if the frag are not glued

Hi, I recently got a fairy basslet or royal gramma fish in my saltwater aquarium everything seemed fine until I came in to check on the tank when I noticed the fairy basslet was gone. I searched the tank and filter and there was nothing, so I look down and found the little fish. Luckily I got it in the tank in time. But does anyone know if this species is known to jump, or any tips about how to handle this?

Urchins are a pain in the ass. They eat coraline algae and while they don't eat coral, they do pick up corals, snails, hermits etc and a lot of the time they die. They also bulldoze your aquascape.

I'm looking into getting a dwarf zebra lionfish. Since lionfish like to eat most small creatures, do you have any recommendations for cleaners for this tank?
taxol2
taxol2 - 7 years ago
Touka Kirishima you are welcome. Do be careful when u have more than 1 tang in the same tank/aquarium. Google first of how to reduce agression among tangs. Some aggression is very common but there are cases where the weaker tang / less dominant one simply die of being bewten up.
Touka Kirishima
Touka Kirishima - 7 years ago
taxol2 Thank you for the advice!
taxol2
taxol2 - 7 years ago
Touka Kirishima foxface, bristletooth tangs for fish eating algae that can coexist with lionfish.
For detritus eating fish: none that I can think off. Although for my experience, adding chaeto algae in your sump really help. Or phosban and activated carbon. And I'm sure you have detritus eating worm somewhere in your tank. Don't be lazy on your periodic water change

Hi, I started watching your video like 1 month ago. It is very helpful, learned many things. I do also went to that exhibition that you mentioned. That was pretty cool. I saw you yesterday at the show, but was to shy to come to talk to you XD. I like your videos in general, but I do have to say one thing about it. I think saltwater hobby and a very topic as youtube channel. However, my suggestion would be to film them with more interaction, like tell a story kind of. For example pointing at your tank or things like that. It might sound confusing. I just meant there might be better ways to talk to your audience other than sitting in front of the camera and talk to it. You have been doing this talk since a kid. Sorry if I offended you, I just think it you have more interaction in your videos, more people would follow you lol. Hope this helps.

They should be fine. The only shrimp that get territorial are coral banded shrimp. But if you're still worried, just add him and keep your lights off for that day or add him once the lights go out for the night.
Jeremiah Holland
Jeremiah Holland - 7 years ago
you should make a video about clams and if they are good to have for beginners because I have been wondering about that.
cronkster25
cronkster25 - 7 years ago
Below 4" or so they really are not good for beginners; as they can't farm enough of their own zooxanthellae so they need additional feedings(most like some form of small coral foods) which cause the adverse effect of adding a clam. For the most part they are great filter feeders, but just make sure it is mature enough where you do not have to supplement its photosynthetic diet. Otherwise you may cause more harm than good!

Hey George, I've been following your uploads for quite a while and I tip my hat on how solid your advice are. I apologize for touching on an irrelevant subject but what are your views on dealing with marine ich? I have a basic mixed reef tank and my Cole tang showed signs of the disease a few days ago. From my understanding QT all the fish for 4-8 weeks and treating w copper will eliminate the parasite. My question is timing. Should I jump into this project immediately or keep food enriched w garlic aminos and vitamins (which I have been doing since adding the fish) until things get worse? Any chance I can just live w ich..? Also, ever used Herbtana? Keep up the good work, thanks for all the inspiration. Cheers from Athens, Greece.
Andrew Pfeifer
Andrew Pfeifer - 7 years ago
you defiantly want to treat it asap they cannot live with it, it will fill their gills and they die , garlic has been known to work but doesn't actually have any proof it does anything , its a weird subject , now there are a few ways you could go about naturally getting rid of it, via cleaner wrasse or cleaner shrimp depending on the severity this could work , a copper dip would also work however if there is any in the tank they will just get re infected , so a total tank treatment might be in order if its that bad, i would research some treatments and do what ever one you feel most comfortable with because any treatments have there up and down sides but there is lots of products to choose from .

Its called weirdization. But its not weird. Maybe just a little. But you never know when someone will pop out and ask you to sing "Sail" by AWOLNATION and if you know all the lyrics, they give you $50,000 dollars. So yeah.

I don’t really like video games so I can’t make money that way. But I’m really good at editing and filmmaking and photoshop and photography. I actually learned some of the stuff I know from someone who filmed a few of dj Khaleds (or however u spell it) music videos
